A few of them however received heavy bashing and criticisms from the general public for their uninspiring songs and shows.

Meanwhile, there are some young Ghanaian artistes who virtually took over the music industry by storm with their ‘irresistible’ songs.

Below is list of four young Ghanaian artistes whose names are on the lips of most Ghanaians to win ‘big’ at this year’s VGMAs.

2017 Was A Difficult Year For Ghana’s Showbiz, Nigeria Posed Great Threat – George Quaye

George Quaye, an entertainment critic, says 2017 was a difficult year for Ghana’s entertainment industry especially in the area of movies and outdoor events.

According to him, event organizers could not stand on their own strengths. He also added that they had to rely on corporate sponsorship which was not easy to attract due to several limitations.

George Quaye was speaking to Nana Hemaa, co-host of Abusua Mmr3, the mid-morning entertainment show on Abusua FM in Kumasi.

George Quaye Speaks

‘with our music, I think we did fairly well as and it was great. New artists were introduced into the industry and they also performed creditably well,’ he said.

‘Artists such as The Kidi, Kwame Eugene, B4Bona, Ebony…I mean you name them, they all did very well and made us proud.

‘Shatta, Samini, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy all released great tunes and it added to their old achievements. I mean these are guys that are already celebrated in the industry,’ he observed.

Responding to why Ghanaian artists couldn’t make an impact on the international stage in terms of awards and recognition, he said it is one of the major challenges that needs to be highlighted.

‘Nigerian artists have always beaten their Ghanaian counterparts to awards and recognition. And I am sure until we do something differently in terms of investments and others, we will hardly catch up.

‘We can never compare ourselves to the Nigerian acts because they do more collaborations with artists from other countries to get recognized and our people here don’t do that,’ Quaye revealed.

He has therefore called on Ghanaian artists to re-brand themselves well and do more collaborations as well.

Women Should Be Able To Dress Without Fear Of Rape – Joselyn Dumas

Ghanaian actress, Joselyn Dumas has some words for the people who victim-blame rape survivors. She has come against the tendency to blame women’s dressing as the cause of rape and s*xual harassment.

Joselyn opposed that way of thinking. She labeled it as ‘crap’ and said women should have the ability to dress without fear of rape or harassment.

Joselyn spoke about this on the latest episode of ‘Keeping it Real with Joselyn Dumas’, which aired over the weekend.

She had the conversation with Miss Ghana 2010, Stephanie Karikari and Yaa Boadi Okudzeto. The topic for discussion was around the difficulties women face in the corporate world.

Also, they spoke about how to navigate the constant attention from men who want something in return for striking a deal with you.

Joselyn pushed back against the widespread perception that the way a woman dresses has something to do with a man deciding to pursue her sexually.

Her Comments

“I read somewhere that women attract some of these men and these rape issues because of the way they dress. I think that’s crap.”

“If men are moved by what they see so I can’t wear certain clothes?”

The actress also reiterated that blaming the victim who suffered a crime is wrong and should not be encouraged.

Moreover, the panel tried to decipher why some married tried to initiate sexual encounters with women who came to see them for a business deal. Stephanie Karikari said it’s because most men are wired to cheat.

Men are dogs,” the former Miss Ghana winner said without mincing words.

However, both Dumas and Boadi were quick to say ‘some men’. She added: “A lot of them, I would say three quarters, especially where we are in West Africa, Ghana.

“How many men don’t cheat?” she asked rhetorically.

5 Vital Signs To Know If It’s Love Or Lust

Love is an intense feeling of affection toward another person. It’s a profound and caring attraction that forms emotional attachment. On the flip side, lust is a strong desire of a sexual nature that is based on physical attraction. Lust can transform into deep romantic love, but it usually takes time.

Pure lust is based solely on physical attraction and fantasy–it often dissipates when the “real person” surfaces. It’s the stage of wearing rose colored glasses when he or she “can do no wrong.” Being in love doesn’t exclude lust. In fact, lust can lead to love.

Whether you’re in a relationship already or admiring someone from afar, sorting out your feelings for someone can be a real challenge. While there’s no clear, foolproof way to make the distinction for someone else, you can at least make the distinction clearer for yourself.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to rip your partner’s clothes off on a whim (it can definitely make for a hot relationship), but whether or not there’s a deeper love will determine the commitment level. Knowing the difference between love and lust will help you better understand just how romantically involved you envision being with your partner for the long term. And, what’s more, it’ll give you a good idea of just how to feel towards your partner, regarding his or her flaws and how they effect you.

There are no hard and fast rules, but there are a few ways you can tell the difference between love and lust.

Signs to know if it’s Love Or Lust

1.Is he/she the first in your mind or an option

If he’s the first person you think of when you find yourself with an extra ticket to an awesome sold out concert, it’s love. If you’d rather just stop by after the show when you’re sweaty, full of adrenaline, and want a quickie, it’s lust.

2.What Are Your Thoughts Of Him?

If you can genuinely see him as the father of your future children and you choose your favorite names based on what goes well with his last name, it’s love. If the thought of having his baby makes you chuckle and shake your head before you swallow your birth control pill, it’s lust.

3.Love To Be In Public Places Or Not

If you’re seen in public with him on a regular basis and it’s obvious you two are more than friends, it’s love. If you prefer to spend the majority of your time with him in bed, it’s lust.

4.Argument time

If you try to avoid fighting whenever possible and talk about your issues openly and rationally, it’s love. If you don’t mind having huge screaming matches because, well, make up sex, it’s lust.

5.  Rate Your Sexual Life

If cuddling after sex is half the fun, it’s love. If you have a get in and get out type of arrangement, it’s lust.

Photos: These New Fashion Trends Are Causing Stare On Social Media

2018 is indeed a great year for fashion. As the new trends on social media are just driving people crazy.

Fashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, hairstyle and body. A distinctive and often constant trend in the style in which a person dresses.

It is the prevailing styles in behavior and the newest creations of textile designers. Because the more technical term costume is regularly linked to the term “fashion”, the use of the former has been relegated to special senses like fancy dress or masquerade wear, while “fashion” generally means clothing, including the study of it. Although aspects of fashion can be feminine or masculine, some trends are androgynous.

These dresses can be won for different occasions such as engagement, wedding, dinner, party, church, office etc.

We spotted some new trends and they’re just too much.
