It seems people have more problems with Shatta Wale.

A member of mutiple award winning group, VVIP , Prodigal has stated his stance on comments made by Shatta Wale. Prodigal has made clear with much resentment that the family will never perform on the same stage with Shatta Wale.

According to Prodigal, he is entirely disgusted by the artiste’s recent utterances. Therefore, he does not think they will ever share a stage with him.

This is after the dancehall artiste attacked some veteran musicians in the industry for criticising him. He openly descended on Tictac and VVIP at the recently held S Concert at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Prodigal made these statements in a recent interview on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty. He promised, “Me and my crew, we will never ever be on any show Shatta Wale is on. Whether they are paying us billions or whatever unless the guy change his attitude and the vibe is right.”

Prodigal added “we don’t hate him, we love him as a brother but people around him are using the boy against people and it is not right. He is a nice guy and when I first met him, I don’t know now. He really needs to change his way and all the SM fans need to pray for your leader.”

Renowned Ghanaian highlife artist, Kwabena Kwabena has found himself in a pickle. The drama between he and his ex-wife Lydia Appenteng a.k.a Abena Owusua Dwamena continued.

The unending drama continued at the Plus 233 Jazz Bar & Grill when Kwabena Kwabena launched his album, Ahyesi.

According to reports, Kwabena Kwabena’s ex-wife stormed the event ground with police to summon him to court.

Moreover, Abena Owusua chose that method because all efforts to invite Kwabena Kwabena to court over their divorce had proven futile.

Furthermore, the musician has refused to accept the court summons on several occasions. His reasons were that he did not marry at the court of law. Therefore, he sees no reason to appear before a judge if he wants to walk out of the union.

“His persistent refusal made Abena go in for a court order and that is why they went to the concert to serve him” the source added.

The police and Abena Owusua were told Kwabena Kwabena was not around when they arrived at the album launch. Management of the musician was not willing to state his whereabouts.

However, they acquiesced when the police said they would mount the stage to serve him if he returns to perform.

Apparently, the singer parted ways with his ex-wife because the pastor of his manager claims that Abena Owusuaa used a charm to win his heart. Kwabena Kwabena’s manager is popular Metro TV host, Frema Ashkar.

Interestingly, it seems Frema has moved into Kwabena Kwabena’s home while Abena Owusuaa has moved out of her matrimonial home.

Finally, Kwabena Kwabena has returned some customary items to the family of Abena Owusuaa to signal his intention to end his marriage.

Jackie Appiah is an award-winning Ghanaian actress. She also celebrated her birthday yesterday.

For many years, Jackie Appiah celebrates her birthday by doing charity. She either donates something or visit an orphanage. Therefore, this year was no different.

Ace comedian and actor, Kwaku Sintim-Misa aka KSM has some words for comedians.

KSM reacted to comedian Khemikal’s recent statement that Ghanaian comedians are broke.

In an interview with Citi Showbiz, Khemikal intimated that Ghanaian comedians were poor. This is because event organisers paid them low fees.

“Ghanaian comedians are broke because most event organisers, especially those who mount the big billboards and do all the advertisement in the media are not willing to pay us per our standards. They are willing to pay an international act about $20,000 dollars but will pay a Ghanaian GHc 1,000 because they feel we are Ghanaians,” he lamented.

KSM came out to give his input to Khemikal’s assertion. He went on his Facebook page to give advice to Ghanaian comedians and creative artists at large.

Moreover, according to KSM, comedians the world over are not paid well. Therefore, it is important that every comedian gets a ‘day job’ aside comedy.

“THE BUSINESS OF COMEDY
“No laughing matter”

I read Khemical’s statement on citifmonline about how GH Comedians are broke. Well folks, you will be surprised to KNOW that its [sic] not only GH comedians that are broke. Some of the “brokest” and seriously hassling [sic] comedians are in the US!

In Gh, one of the strong platforms for comedians to test their material is Laugh-line. The equivalent of that in New York, is called “THE IMPROV”

To get on the Improv platform in New York, budding comedians have to get to the venue as early as 3 AM to line up. Yes even in the winter. They stay in the line till 9am. On a normal day, there could be as many as 200 people in the line before 6am. By the time the doors open at 9 am, there could be as many as 500 talented comedians. The about five hundred people will whittle down to a shortlist of 12 people.

If you are lucky enough to be in the final twelve, you will be invited to come back to the venue in the evening at 7 pm. At that point, you will be put on a stage and given 5 minutes to display your comedy skills before a very vibrant live audience full of hecklers. if you are lucky to mount that stage, and take one look at the crazy audience, that is when it dawns on you that the business of comedy “is no laughing matter”.

Many comedians go through this routine several times before they get selected to be featured as guest performers. “Many fall by the wayside”. When you hassle enough to be elevated to the status of a guest performer at the IMPROV, they only pay you get is a drink of your choice and a couple of free doughnuts on the house. NO MONEY: “Comedians abre”!!!

The amazing thing is how every comedian aspires to be a guest performer at the IMPROV. Even as a guest performer, the CV value is VERY HIGH. . Guest performers at the IMPROV walk with their shoulders high. I know, I have been one before. YEARS AGO!!!!

But don’t get me wrong, when you hang in the business LONG ENOUGH and you keep thrilling the audiences consistently you will get to the next level of ELEVATION where your name is put on the Marquee or LED screens. When that happens the cash SLOWLY begins to roll in. YOU ARE BECOMING A BRAND. From that point onwards a good agent or manager will drive your career further. That is the path most of the well known comedians took.”

I am saying this to let the hardworking GH comedians always keep in mind that business of comedy “IS NO LAUGHING MATTER” Charlie – eno be easy kraaa!!! Especially in Ghana where the market is not vibrant and support structures are non-existent.

This situation makes it very hard to pursue comedy professionally in GH. By that I mean DEPENDING on ONLY STAND-UP comedy for your livelihood. Nah, YOU WILL BE BROKE.

In the US they have an expression: “DON’T QUIT YOUR DAY JOB.” This is the advice that goes out specifically to creative artistes. It simply means that you must have a fall back job that generates regular income and while you have that going, you can practice comedy as a “professional hobby”. If you hang in long enough to the point where the income from the comedy is so good that you can afford to do only comedy fine. If not, DON’T QUIT YOUR DAY JOB.

A classic example I know in GH is OB. He is a medical Doctor and a practicing comedian. He has his DAY JOB! As much as he loves comedy and as great as he is, it is not his main income source. HE WILL NOT QUIT HIS DAY JOB. Even in Nigeria, I will not be surprised to know that some of their comedians who come here to perform have their DAY JOBS.

In the future, I will be sharing with you some of the “tricks of the trade”. In the meantime keep in mind that the BUSINESS comedy IS NO LAUGHING MATTER!!!!

And please DON’T QUIT YOUR DAY JOB!!!!”

Well, these are wise words from a veteran.

Chris Attoh is addressing the issues that have plagued him.

Chris Attoh disclosed that rumours of him being gay was started by a lady fan who harassed him for sex.

He made these statements on Angel TV. Chris said he didn’t succumb to the lady’s demands. This annoyed her to no end and she started spreading the gay rumors.

According to Chris, the harassment incident took place in his ‘green room’ after he finished hosting a show at the National Theatre.

His Statement

“The only time I heard about that (being gay) was a young lady friend who promised me she was going to make sure that the industry thought I am a gay,” he said.

“And this was after I hosted a show at the National Theatre one evening. I finished and was walking back to my green room. I was really really tired. I wasn’t in the mood for anything but there was a young lady who came to introduce herself as a fan. She had nothing but a jacket on and she took the jacket off. I don’t think the rating of the show will allow but long story short, I didn’t yield to it. I was very hot because I was going for some money. Apart from that I also felt like a piece of meat.

It wasn’t something that was attractive and packaged. But long story short before I left the room and I asked her to put her clothes on. She promised me she was going to go to every press to tell them I am gay because she gave herself to me and I did nothing. This is a long time ago. So that is the only time I remember and I probably did hear I’m a gay but I didn’t know it’s that serious,” the actor revealed.

Moreover, these rumors have been following Chris for a while now. In 2012, he denied being gay on Glo’s Big Friday Show. On that show, he said there was no truth in the rumour whatsoever. However, the rumours didn’t stop there.

The rumors resurfaced again when he announced his divorce. This was due to the fact that he didn’t give a concrete reason for the divorce.

Can’t we all just get along. Samini and Shatta Wale cannot seem to get along even when they call a ceasefire.

Last Friday, Samini boycotted his ‘S’ concert performance. This is because Shatta Wale performed way over time. This has led to the two of them trading shots on social media once again.

Samini made some comments on Hitz FM. He said Shatta Wale intentionally stopped his (Samini’s) performance by staying out way over his time.

His Words

“Right after the event at 5 am, Shatta Wale already had a Facebook post about the fact that I didn’t perform at the concert.

If he did not have any interest in doing anything possible to stop me from performing that night, he would not find it necessary to have a post about me not being able to perform” he said.

Finally, he added, “I’ve been a threat to him since 2006. He has been throwing shots at me, doing songs to insult me and fabricating stories against me.”
