First Date No No’s For Guys

Going on a first date can be nerve wracking. The idea of it makes a lot of people break out in cold sweat. However, it does not have to be this way. This list is a simple guidelines on the things guys must not do on their first date with a girl.

Don’t monopolize the conversation

Your date does not want to hear you go on and on (and on) about work, your ex, or your mother. Talk about yourself but also ask your date questions that will get her talking about herself. Joke around and have fun. Don’t get too serious too soon. You can usually get a pretty good vibe from one another through your interactions to know if a second date is in the cards.

Don’t try to over impress

First dates should be fun and fairly casual. Making reservations at a fancy and expensive restaurant for a first date gives off the impression that you’re trying too hard and puts more pressure than necessary on the date. Plus, it might make you have to live up to unrealistic expectations for subsequent dates. Try to plan something fun and casual like miniature golfing or a free concert in the park to help break the tension that sometimes comes with first dates.

Avoid risky or controversial topics

Don’t bring up topics like politics, exes, sexual preferences or things of that nature. These can come across as crass and impolite. If there are things like these you want to discuss that are important to you, let the relationship gradually build before bringing up such heavier topics.

Don’t leave her wondering how the night went

If you think the date went well and you’d like to see her again, tell her. Something simple, such as, “I had a great time. I’d love to see you again” will suffice. Notice her reaction and if she seems interested. Then text her within a day or so to tell her something funny or interesting related to a topic the two of you were talking about. Don’t wait three days to let her know if you enjoyed her company.

It Costs About 1 Million Dollars To Change 25 Year Old Air Conditions At National Theater

The National Theater has come under serious criticism once again for the heat in the facility.

Many have called for the closure of the venue for renovation but officials of National Theater say that cannot happen now. The Deputy Executive Director for National Theater, Towfik Prah explained why the maintenance cannot happen any moment from now.

He revealed that they have to inform the Chinese government of any plan to renovate the place since they offered it as a gift to Ghana for them to support financially.

He admitted that the air conditoner machines have problems because they have not changed them after they were fixed into the auditorium 25 years ago when National Theate was constructed.

The Deputy Executive Director continued that they mostly plead with event organisers who hire the place to organise big events to support them with additional air-conditions or fans to prevent heat at the auditorium, but they fail to heed to their call.

When asked why changing the air-conditions has become a headache; he explained

“it’s a laudable idea to tell us to change the air-conditions but the money to change them is about a million dollar. They are huge water-chilled machines but not the normal ones people see around. The type of air-condition we have can be found in about two big companies in the country. Most businesses and hotels have changed theirs because of the cost they come with.”

He made these statements with Zionfelix, host of Brunch2Lunch entertainment show.

The building houses the three resident companies of the National Dance Company, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the National Theatre Players.

Let’s Prepare For The Coming Of Jesus Christ – Hannah Marfo

Sensational Ghanaian gospel musician, Hannah Marfo, has some thoughts on gospel musicians.

She has stated that it is not wrong for gospel musicians to collaborate with a secular musician.

The singer made these comments on Entertainment Today. She said the musician needs to assess his/her spiritual capabilities before making such a decision.

We propagate the word of God through music and somebody who is not a believer can change his/her ways after opening his/her mouth to pray and sing about God.

The Pharisees were not happy when the sinful woman wiped Jesus’ feet with her hair but Jesus came not for the righteous.

It is difficult on the part of humanity but not for Jesus Christ. He likes it that way that through collaborations they will turn to him.

For me I do not see anything wrong for a gospel musician to collaborate with a secular musician but you have to assess yourself very well. If have a strong faith then I do not see anything wrong with it.”

Hannah Marfo also stated that coming out with a new song takes time and one must prepare very well.

I am working on new songs at the studio. I also have a school which takes care of the needy in Accra. Sometimes I do honour invitations to perform at programmes too.”

When asked what makes it difficult for someone to be a gospel musician, she answered: “Whatever is in you is what will come out.

Those who are living according to the flesh will definitely find it difficult to sing about the gospel.

She added this advise for Ghanaian gospel musicians, “We do not know how we got the voice; it was there when they gave birth to us so let’s make good use of the talent and do what will win souls for the almighty God. Let’s prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ.”

Son Of KKD Comes Out Of The Closet

Well if this isn’t interesting news.

Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah, son of Kwasi Kyei Darkwah (KKD), has come out of the closet. The model opened up about his sexuality. He wrote in a digital magazine on being young, gifted, black and queer. According to him, he had a difficult time coming out about being gay.

He added that he used to hide his sexuality. He said he remembered instances when he used to be very quiet, obedient and often stay in his room so as he would be unnoticed when he was staying with his parents.

He has, however, gone past that stage in his life. He currently doesn’t feel the need to conform to anybody’s standard in terms of sexuality.

The moment I realised I was gay happened in primary school. Someone called me gay as an insult and I responded with “so what?” I was totally fine with it, but others weren’t and that was when the discomfort and shame with my sexuality started.

He wrote in the feature on the website. The feature also told the story of other young black men, including another Ghanaian, Kobe Darko.

He added:

Living under my parents’ roof, I was constantly hiding. I’d get home from school and be incredibly quiet, helpful and obedient. I stayed in my room most of the time. I was playing the role of the ‘ideal son’ so I could just skate by unnoticed. It wasn’t until I was no longer living at home that I started to realise I wasn’t anyone or anything I’d known so far in my life.

I went through a lot of ups and downs, trying out new ways of dressing, trying out new friendship groups, and reinventing myself over and over again. I realise I did this because I was still trying to fit in a box – the stylish black guy, the cool and macho black guy, the femme, flamboyant and fun black guy. None worked because there is a lot more to me (and any person for that matter) than a stereotype. I am now very comfortable with my sexuality because I don’t feel I need to conform to any one image.”

A lot of Ghanaians are decidedly unhappy with the news.

5Types Of Foot And What They Say About Your Personality

Everyone has a different kind of foot shape. Foot shape encompasses the length of the toes, how the toes compare to each other, and the overall shape of the foot. You might be very surprised to learn that foot and toe shape can tell you something about personality. While everyone has toes, we don’t usually think about what different toe and foot shapes might actually mean. In fact, taking a time to compare foot and toe shape to your own or others you’ve seen may not be something you’ve done or have only done rarely. However, people might take a second look at toes after finding out they may reveal a person’s personality.

1.Egyptian Foot

A pretty common foot type, the Egyptian toe is distinguished by a long big toe, followed by the other toes tapering at a 45 degree angle. The entire foot is at an incline, and usually longer and narrower than other shapes. People who have feet like this have a royal air about them, and love extra pampering. They have an eye for aesthetics, and are generally very friendly people—being the best fit to deal with difficult personalities.

2.Roman Foot

This particular toe shape is characterized by the first three toes being of the same height, with the other two in descending order. People with this foot type tend to be very outgoing and sociable. They also tend to be very charismatic, so they make great public speakers and business people.

3. The Square Foot

When all toes are nearly identical in length, then the person is said to have a “square foot.” Also known as the “peasant foot,” this foot type is the most rectangular in appearance. People with this foot type have a tendency to be calm and calculated when making decisions. As a result of this, they are very reliable and practical.4. The Greek Foot

Also known as the “flame foot or fire foot,” the most distinctive feature for this foot type is the extended second toe (it is larger than the big toe). People with the Greek foot tend to be enthusiastic and motivating. The Greek foot is seen commonly on artists and athletes (representative of people who are creative and sporty), as well as public speakers and innovators.

5. The Stretched Foot

These feet have a rather thin appearance. This is due to the fact that the toes are squished together, lending to a lengthier and thinner looking foot. The big toe is generally the largest of all the toes and then the size tapers with each toe. People with this foot type tend to value privacy while also being secretive. On top of this, they can also be impulsive and have sudden mood changes.But shape isn’t everything, apparently;

For instance, those who have small feet love  life and like to have a very hectic job, while larger feet are characteristic of those with the greatest desire to succeed in new ventures. Crooked toes are a sign of surrender, long ones denote ambition, and a very large big toe symbolizes a high degree of rationality.

We’re sure you do fall within one of these. Don’t forget to tell us which one.

5 Dangers With Prolonged Mobile Phone Usage

It is no lie that our mobile phones have become as much a part of our lives as clothes. We use our mobile phones for everything.

However, all the uses of the mobile phone cannot detract from the dangers it poses when it used for a long time.

Eye strains
Anytime you spend more than a few hours staring at your phone, you risk dry eyes from blinking less, headaches, blurred vision, and general eyestrain. Looking into the distance every 20 minutes and blinking frequently can help.

It can cause neck and upper back pain
The hours you spend hunching on your mobile phone can have effects. The position can trigger discomfort beginning with pain in the back of the neck and shoulders.

Increase chances of fatal accidents
Mobile phones are a huge distraction drivers and walkers alike. You probably text while walking or driving. This action can lead to accidents happening.

Risk of cancer
A lot of scientists have warned over time that there is the possibility that prolonged use of cell phones can cause brain tumours to develop in a person. Cell phones make use of a high radio frequency to work effectively. It is believed that when you hold the phone against your ear during a call, this frequency can cause gradual damage to your brain. This damage is in the form of a tumor growing in the brain.

Memory loss
Who needs to memorise things when you have a smartphone handy. Because of the smartphone, there’s no reason to memorize things you know you can easily look up — like phone numbers. And when you stop memorizing facts and figures, your memory can get a little rusty.

7 Health Benefits Of Eating Watermelon

Watermelons are mostly water, about 92 percent-but this refreshing fruit is soaked with nutrients. Each juicy bite has significant levels of vitamins A, B6 and C, lots of lycopene, antioxidants and amino acids. There’s even a modest amount of potassium.

Below are 7 health benefits of eating watermelon;

1.Helps You Hydrate

Drinking water is an important way to keep your body hydrated. However, eating foods that have a high water content can also help. Interestingly, watermelon is 92% water. A high water content is one of the reasons that fruits and vegetables help you feel full. The combination of water and fiber means you’re eating a good volume of food without a lot of calories.

2. Good For Skin And Hair

Two vitamins in watermelon — A and C — are important for skin and hairhealth. Vitamin C helps your body make collagen, a protein that keeps your skin supple and your hair strong. Vitamin A is also important for healthy skin since it helps create and repair skin cells. Without enough vitamin A, your skin can look dry and flaky. Both lycopene and beta-carotene may also help protect your skin from sunburn.

Contains nutrients and beneficial plant compounds

As far as fruits go, watermelon is one of the lowest in calories — only 46 calories per cup. That’s lower than even “low-sugar” fruits such as berries.

A cup (154 grams) of watermelon has many other nutrientsas well, including these vitamins and minerals:

  • Vitamin C: 21% of the RDI
  • Vitamin A: 18% of the RDI
  • Potassium: 5% of the RDI
  • Magnesium: 4% of the RDI
  • Vitamins B1, B5 and B6: 3% of the RDI

Watermelon is also high in carotenoids, including beta-carotene and lycopene. Plus, it has citrulline, an important amino acid.

Here’s an overview of watermelon’s most important antioxidants:

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps prevent cell damage from free radicals.

Carotenoids

Carotenoids are a class of plant compounds that includes alpha-carotene and beta-carotene, which your body converts to vitamin A.

Lycopene

Lycopene is a type of carotenoid that doesn’t change into vitamin A. This potent antioxidant gives a red color to plant foods such as tomatoes and watermelon, and is linked to many health benefits.

Cucurbitacin E

Cucurbitacin E is a plant compound with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Bitter melon, a relative of watermelon, contains even more cucurbitacin E.

In short, watermelon is a low-calorie fruit high in some nutrients, especially carotenoids, vitamin C and cucurbitacin E.

3. Improves Heart Health

Heart disease is the number one cause of death worldwide. Lifestyle factors, including diet, may lower the risk of heart attacks and strokes by reducing blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Several nutrients in watermelon have specific benefits for heart health. Studies suggest that lycopene may help lower cholesterol and blood pressure. It can also help prevent oxidative damage to cholesterol.

According to studies in obese postmenopausal women and Finnish men, lycopene may also help reduce the stiffness and thickness of artery walls. Watermelon also contains citrulline, an amino acid that may increase nitric oxide levels in the body. Nitric oxide helps your blood vessels expand, which lowers blood pressure. Other vitamins and minerals in watermelon are also good for your heart. These include vitamins A, B6, C, magnesium and potassium.

4. Improves Digestion

Watermelon contains lots of water and a small amount of fiber — both of which are important for healthy digestion. Fiber can provide bulk for your stool, while water helps keep your digestive tract moving efficiently. Eating water-rich and fiber-rich fruits and vegetables, including watermelon, can be very helpful for promoting normal bowel movements. Thus, fiber and water are important for healthy digestion. Watermelon contains both.

5. Lowers Blood Pressure

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is the most common condition seen in primary care and commonly leads to heart attacks, strokes, and other fatal diseases if untreated. Watermelon is rich in citrulline, which is an amino acid that is converted to arginine in the body. In turn, both citrulline and arginine help in the production of nitric oxide, which is a vasodilator, meaning that it helps relax and dilate your blood vessels.

When the vessels are dilated, more blood can pass freely through, leading to lower blood pressure and less of a risk for such things as stroke and cardiac infractions. Even better, the carotenoids present in watermelon help prevent the hardening of arteries and veins, thereby also helping reduce the risk of blood clots and atherosclerosis.

Clinical trials have shown that supplementation with watermelon and watermelon juices can actually reduce your aortic blood pressure and may even provide cardioprotection to keep your heart healthy and working smoothly.

 6. Improves Hair Growth

Male pattern baldness is a landmark in time that no man wants to pass. On the other hand, just as unwanted is the thinning of hair in women as they age. The effect of hair loss is not just a superficial physical effect, but it has also been documented that is takes an emotional toll on the patient as well. The mammalian hair follicle contains papilla and dermal sheath cells and undergoes a cycle of growth as the follicle ages. Certain growth factors are believed to cause the epithelial cells in the hair follicle tissues to proliferate and differentiate, leading to thicker and more abundant hair.

Since a derivative of vitamin C, l-Ascorbic acid 2-phosphate, is known to stimulate human fibroblasts and osteoblasts, researchers have suggested that such a supplement may be useful for hair growth.

Indeed, when hair follicles were isolated and treated with this compound, scientists saw significant growth stimulation in dermal papilla cells as well as an elongation of the hair shaft.

Such findings may suggest that vitamin C promotes the growth of hair follicles, which is one more reason why vitamin C-rich watermelon should be an essential part of everyone’s diet.

7. Aids In Weight Loss

Because watermelon is composed of so much water, it is by no means unusual to hear that eating watermelon may help to reduce fat or lose weight. This property of the fruit, however, may be attributed to more than just its high water content. The high levels of citrulline in watermelon mean that when our body processes this amino acid it can convert it into another amino acid called arginine. Recently, several studies have been finding evidence that the more conversion there is from citrulline to arginine, the more the amino acids block the activity of an enzyme called tissue-nonspecific alkaline phosphatase, TNAP. Interestingly, blocking the metabolic activities of this enzyme may help to prevent excess accumulation of fat in fat cells. The reason this occurs is thought to begin with arginine’s function in the body. Researchers have found that arginine stimulates lipolysis and the expression of several genes responsible for fatty acid oxidation. The more fatty acids that are oxidized into carbon dioxide and water, the more your body also reduces your amount of stored body fat.

Although more research must be done in this area to specifically prove arginine’s role in helping reduce body fat, it certainly cannot hurt to make sure you have enough arginine and watermelon in your daily diet!

Check Out These 11 Beautiful Natural Hairstyles You Can Rock In On That ‘Special Day'( Photos)

Women don’t joke with their hair because aside being one of the most notable thing on them, it also does compliment their looks a lot.

Ladies, you don’t have to get your hair permed simply because you want your hair to look ravishing for that special occasion. There are so many beautiful and different styles you can get done with your natural hair .

Well, we all thought ‘short hair’ styles were actually going to uproot the ‘natural hair styles’ when they emerged but it looks like the latter is here to stay as more and more women and even men are joining the natural hair family each day. Oh yes!, you sit in a passenger car and you’ll count not less than three people with natural hair.

I know you don’t need to ask the kind of hair referred to as natural hair because you surely do know. But for the sake of clarity, let me briefly define it here.

Natural hair is hair whose texture hasn’t been altered by chemical straighteners, including relaxers and texturizers. An Afro hairstyle is sometimes referred to as ‘a natural hair’, but natural black hair can be worn in many other styles besides a short ‘fro’. Pressed hair may still be considered natural because once washed, the texture usually returns to its unaltered state (as long as no heat damage has occurred).

Below are 11 natural hairstyles you can rock in on that special occasion. You might want to tell us which one is your favorite as well;

Moving Out Of TV3 Has Completely Changed How I see Things – Nana Aba Anamoah

2017 Radio and TV Personality of the Year, Nana Aba Anamoah has expressed her profound gratitude to God for His abundant favor upon her.

Nana Aba Anamoah, who swept seven awards at the just ended 2017 RTP Awards night  has also not hidden her disappointment and how betrayed she felt when she was ditched by her former employers; TV3 Network Ltd.

The News Editor and host of State of Affairs on GHOne TV took a sly dig at TV3 during an interview on Empire Fm disclosing her disinterest in TV3 affairs and admitting, “Errrm you know, TV3 I actually don’t really think about them”.

It will be recalled Nana Aba Anamoah and TV3 Network developed a tensed relationship following a “photo theft” incident leading to her resignation from the media group.

Intriguingly, two years on in October (same month her career almost came crashing; after she was slapped with an indefinite suspension from TV3 Network), she defied all odds to keep her head up and win the much coveted radio and television personality of the year.

“…but they say sometimes things happen in your life and you might think it’s a problem but God just puts you in that situation so you can move on. What happened two years ago, even though I thought it was such a big silly joke, I think it happened for the greater good for me.

“Moving out of TV3 has completely changed my life; it has completely changed how I see things” she confessed.
