I Don’t Mind Collaborating With Patapaa On ‘One Corner’ Remix- Cabum

It is  quiet clear now that the ‘one corner’ song and the dance craze surrounding it is never fading any time soon as the Kumasi-based hip-hop artiste and producer, Cabum born as Frank Kwame Gyasi-Frimpong has said he is ready to collaborate with the ‘One Corner’ hitmaker Patapaa Amisty for a remix of the song.

Although the ‘dance craze’ surrounding the song has recieved a few criticisms from some Leaders with few celebrities expressing their dislike for it as well, it is no doubt the biggest hit song these past weeks with many including some celebrities endorsing it by releasing of videos of themselves performing the ‘one corner’ dance all over social media.

Many entertainment personalities such as Funny Face, Emelia Brobbey, Moesha Buduong, Abeiku Santana amongst others have all recorded videos dancing to the song.

The song and dance craze recently transcended the shores of Ghana as Nigerian music star Reekado Banks and Falz were spotted in a studio dancing to it.

Speaking to host Dr. Isaac Duncan-Williams on Adom FM’s Kasahari Level last Saturday, the “Won Y33 Hwee” hit maker stressed that the ‘One Corner’ song was ‘cooked’ to make people happy.

He further disclosed that in the showbiz industry music doesn’t always have to be sensible to generate high returns.

“I love the one corner song. Trust me. It’s funny. People talk bad about it. One thing I think about music is people don’t always want the sense in it. You have to be creative to let the people love the song. That’s the business. We sell for the masses. If you want it for yourself then you buy it alone…” he revealed.

Asked if he will feature Patapaa Amisty on a song Cabum said: “It depends on the song but I will join on the one corner remix. I don’t mind at all jumping on it…” he said.

The OM Studios and Chedishi State label artiste is currently promoting his highly anticipated debut album dubbed: ‘The Beginning’.

Certain Gospel Musicians Lack Respect –

One of the members of the award-winning gospel trio, Daughters of Glorious Jesus,Cynthia Appiadu, has spoken about certain traits in the new crop of gospel musicians.

Cynthia stated that certain gospel musicians lack respect and are not humble at all.

She made these statements on an interview on Hitz FM. She stated that she believes humility is one key step to becoming a successful gospel musician.

Cynthia was part of the group with Edna Sarpong and Monica Owusu-Ansah. The group was one of the most successful gospel groups of all time. The had songs such as ‘Mebo Wo Din Daa’, ‘Edin No’ and ‘Asomdwoe Hene’.
Cynthia Appiadu attributed their great success to humility and respect for their predecessors and spiritual leaders.

She said,

“One thing I can boldly say is that in the first place, if you want to be a gospel musician, you have to be a Christian because you’re there as an example for people. We’re not angels, but we are all trying to be perfect.”

She continued, “Sometimes, people with gift will just stand up and say because I have this gift, I want to sing without wanting to submit themselves under authority…If you are humble and determined that you will do this work for Christ, then I can assure you that the lord will take you far as He has with Daughters of Glorious Jesus.”

“For over thirty years we’ve been with the man who helped groomed us into who we are today and we are still humble under his authority. That loyalty, that faithfulness is one of the secrets. When we came, there were some older gospel musicians. Somebody like Rev. Yawson, the late Rev Kusi Berko, Michael Osei Bonsu, they all know us and we were very young but we were always humble and go to them to ask how they do their stuff and we still give them respect.”

“Some of these current gospel musicians don’t have respect. Some are good. When they meet you, they’ll ask you one or two questions and you can see they want to learn something but others are filled with pride and think they know,” she concluded.

Her statements are true as many people have complained about the arrogance and lack of humility from many gospel musicians.

I Was Told My Boobs Were Too Small – Leila Djansi

After Lydia Forson told her tale of how a producer wanted to feel her breasts before given her a role; other people have come out to talk about the sexual harassment they have also gone through.

One such person is Leila Djansi. She has started writing about her own sexual harassment stories and experiences on Facebook.

She has taken to Facebook for a weeklong storytelling of how she has been sexually harassed both in Ghana and America.

She tells a story on how she was not paid her salary because she refused to kiss her boss. Some of the stories are below:

I’ll share my sexual harassment stories all week. In Ghana and in America.”

Ghana: When I started out, a TV station owed me money. I met with the head for my payment and he asked me to kiss him first. I said no. Went home without pay. Spent another week without food. My dad was down with stroke so there was no way I was asking my parents for money. Thanks to friends who invited me to their meals.

“America: My previous attorney who ended up robbing me. He said my boobs were too small, industry men will not find me attractive enough to give me deals. His advice was to get a partner with big boobs who’d use her sexuality to get me into rooms.”

These stories are heartbreaking and show a bigger picture of how insidious sexual harassment is in the fabric of society.

As a society we should not stand for it and must speak up at every point.

Foreign Language Committee Members Should Bow Their Heads In Shame- Bill Asamoah

Bill Asamoah, President of the Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Actors Guild has expressed his extreme disappointment at the members of the Ghana Foreign Language Committee saying that they should bow their heads in shame for failing to nominate a movie to represent Ghana at the 2018 Oscars.

In an interview with Hitz FM’s Nana Qwame Larbi,  Bill Asamoah stressed that the committee should have educated movie makers more on the qualification and selection process.

Bill Asamoah expressed that the committee should have put proper arrangements in place to reach out to other parts of Ghana to find movies that could make the cut.

“Whoever was in charge of getting the nomination and selection of the movies should bow their heads in shame. The committee should not have stayed in Accra, they were supposed to educate movie makers more about the nomination process,” he said.

Professor Linus Abraham, Chairman of the Committee announced in Accra recently that none of the three films – ‘Children of the Mountain’, ‘Na Me Nim’ and ‘Black Monkey’ – submitted met the requirements for the Foreign Language Oscars which automatically disqualified them from being nominated.

According to Professor Abraham, the committee detected various anomalies with the submissions of all three films, “and so the committee had no choice but to disqualify them, to preserve the integrity of the committee and of Ghana’s participation in the Oscars.”

Bill Asamoah, however emphasized that, other parts of the country such as the Ashanti Region and Northern Regions of Ghana have very good indigenous movies with great story lines that could easily have made it to the Oscars.

Prez Nana Addo Tweets To Invite Shatta Wale To Flagstaff House

As we all know, yesterday was the ‘Dancehall King’ Shatta Wale’s birthday. He got birthday wishes from many people across the country and particularly in the entertainment industry.

However, there was one person he did not think would tweet at him and certainly not in the manner the birthday wish happened.

Incidentally, the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, went on Twitter to wish Shatta Wale a happy birthday.

The birthday wish surprisingly was written in pidgin English. He also used the tweet to invite Shatta to the Flagstaff House.

President Akufo-Addo tweeted: “Happy birthday @shattawalegh! You for come visit me for Flagstaff House o!”.

Before the President’s tweet, Shatta sent out a tweet to the President asking what he will get for his birthday. It seems the President’s invitation is the gift he would get.

For a while, we at Ghafla thought the President had been hacked and even former British High Commission, Jon Benjamin, pointed out the President’s use of pidgin. It seems that other Ghanaians on Twitter were surprised as well.

If you would remember, during the 2016 presidential campaign, Nana Addo revealed that he was a big fan of Shatta Wale.

His party the NPP also used Shatta Wale’s hit song ‘Kakai’ for their manifesto launch.

It remains to be seen whether Shatta Wale will honor the invitation of Nana Addo.

However, if he does visit the Flagstaff House, we would bring you the pictures.

He said, “I only realized I was poisoned when I was going on stage and saw changes in my voice and funny feelings within my stomach”.

I did all the check-ups in the world and doctors were even amazed because they couldn’t find anything in my throat. I had difficulties in talking. I get choked when I try talking.”

He explained that, had it not been for the timely intervention of a pastor and his family, the worst could have happened to him.

“I have a strong family too so I had a clue about what was going on. I decided to find solution and it was taken out of my system.

A pastor did a surgery on me and took some things out of my throat and some from my stomach. I didn’t believe it but I saw what came out of my body and I was shocked,” he disclosed.

Although Guru refused to put across the name of the friend who tried to end his life and career saying, He did say that “I know the person who poisoned me but I haven’t confronted him. I won’t mention the name but the person knows himself”.

It Is Unacceptable For A Married Man To Have Many Females As Friends On Social Media – Frema Ashkar

Celebrated female broadcaster;Frema Ashkar who is also the manageress of multiple award winning Contemporary Highlife musician,Kwabena Kwabena has made an incredible revelations about married men and social media.

It is significantly said that, the the reason for using social media amongst people within the ages of 16-24 years is not to keep in touch but rather to fill up spare time. Meanwhile, to those who fall within 25 -34 years, staying in touch with friends proves more importance but when it comes to those within 34-44 years, being up to date with current affairs is their main reason.

According to Miss Askar, it is extremely disrespectful for a married man to be charring with ladies on social media.

She made this revelation when she was speaking as a pundit on Angel TV’s popular program; ‘The Purple Room’ on the topic ‘how would you react if your husband mostly chats with ladies on social media. Miss Ashkar stressed that:,
“What is this?… there are certain things you don’t ave to pretend like you are not angry when you see your husband doing them…there are certain things you don’t have to do them…it’s total disrespect… ah..how can all your friends on social media be ladies?…No..it’s not acceptable”.

According to her, the way a man handles his wife would determine how his female friends would also respect his wife, ” Everybody knows you are married but all they could see is you are every time on social media liking and commenting on ladies posts; people would go like what kind if lady are you married to? It’s very disrespectful “.

Miss Frema Ashkar concluded by advising married women not to keep mute when their husbands spend much time on social media just chatting or interacting with their female friends for there is a limit one must always abide to.

Your Song Will Not Last Forever- Atom Reloaded to Patapaa

Undoubtedly, the ‘one corner’ song is currently the most popular and most played songs in Ghana.

Hiplife musicuan, Atom Reloaded, recognized with Ye ‘Wo Krom hit’ song  has stretched a word of caution to the budding Swedru- based artiste, Patapaa over his ‘one corner’ song.

Atom Reloaded advised that, Patapaa shouldn’t be carried away by the “One Corner” fame because this song will not last forever, and it is only best for him Patapaa if he follows it up with another banger.

“Ghanaians are expecting another banger from Patapaa after ‘One Corner’ and from my ‘Ye Wo Krom’ experience, I know it won’t be that easy for him because looking at the rate at which One Corner is big, getting another follow up hit song will be extremely difficult so he should start working hard towards that satisfaction for Ghanaians or soon, they will reject him,” Atom Reloaded.

As someone who has been in the industry for a while now and knows the cons and prons of releasing a banger, Atom Reloaded expressed that if Care is not taken, the ‘one corner’ song just like any of the other previous hit songs that existed before ‘one corner’ have faded will also eventually fade and even the name ‘Patapaa’ would be forgotten if he(Patapaa) feels too comfortable with his current fame.

“I didn’t get too comfortable with just that so I decided to release other songs with other musicians just to be relevant in the industry. Even after all these efforts, not everyone loves my follow up releases like the way they felt attracted to Ye Wo Krom, but I cant complain, I am still doing my best to stay relevant.

Men Need Sex For Their Brains To Function – Quick Action

Ghanaian sound engineer, Joseph Appiah known as Quick Action, has stated that he does not like the action of some women. He added that some wives deny their husbands sex because ‘they are not in the mood.’

According to him, men constantly need sex for their brains to function properly and failure to give them sex prepares the grounds for cheating.

He made these statements known in a Facebook post:

“Married men need sex not that they want it. The manhood system demands that to enable the brain of the man to function well. Spare him that I am not in the mood story. As a married woman you have a practical responsibility to make sure this is done repeatedly. Every man is a man either a pope, prophet, mallam, footballer etc. Yes! Your husband loves you but if you fail to satisfy him sexually he may go in for other partners without a second thought. Women keep it up.”

As at now, the motivation behind the fight seems unclear. However, it seems his comments resonated with a lot of men who were quick to agree with his sentiments.

Quick Action has been working in the music scene for over a decade and is a force to reckon with. He has worked with the likes of Jay-Q and produced hit songs for artistes such as VIP, BukBak, Obrafuor, Ofori Amponsah, Tic Tac, Samini, Afro Moses and a host of others.

Rapper Lil Jon Builds Classroom Block In Ghana

American rapper, producer and DJ, Lil Jon has commissioned a classroom block in Abomayaw. The 3-unit block is in a rural community in the Asuogyaman district in the Eastern Region.

This new classroom block has paved a way for a conducive learning environment for the children in the community. This is because the children previously used to study under trees. The condition of the former classroom unit forced many parents from sending their children to school.

While commissioning the fully furnished classroom block, the rapper, Lil Jon, accompanied by his wife, Nicole Smith and Son Nathan Smith explained that he funded the project through Pencils of Promise, an NGO. He said the building was in Memory and Honour of his late Mother, Carrie M. Smith whose birthday falls in October.

He later spoke to Starr News where he said, “this is the first Project we’ve done together of this kind and it is amazing to see the community come out to support and the appreciation they are showing for us building the school and I just feel like I’m lost for words of how amazing it feels to give the community something like this school. Kindergarten kids at their age they keep up so much stuff so if you can provide appropriate environment for education it can make learning very easy for them and I’m glad I can help facilitate that for these kids looking at where they came from, open basically sheds outside, you can imagine the heat and the obstruction and now they have a well building if it rains.”

The Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, supported 20% of the Project out of the MPs Common Fund with the supply of some building materials. He used the opportunity to urge parents in the community to take advantage of the project to enroll their children who are out of school.

The children in Abomayaw community were elated by the construction of the facility. They thrilled the guests with dramatic display of culture which forced Lil Jon and his team to join the children on the dance floor.

We’re Not Accepting Ghc1,000 To Perform At RTP Awards-Patapaa’s Manager

Fast Rising Swedru-based artiste, Patapaa will not perform at this year’s Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards slated for this month although reports had stated otherwise.

Manager of the ‘One Corner’ hitmaker, Godfred Bokpin said there is no contract between them and organisers of the Awards.

In an interview with Prince Tsegah on Hitz FM’s Showbiz Fylla, the manager explained that the RTP organisers had offered Ȼ1,000 for the artiste to perform at the event but they rejected it because of the meagre money involved.

“And all the person [one of the organisers] could say was, we want to put your boy on our platform to give him the hype, we have a thousand Ghana cedis for your boy,” Mr Bokpin recounted, adding he flatly declined.

He was reacting to claims that Patapaa would be performing at the programme organised annually to award media personalities who distinguish themselves in their line of work.

The young artiste reportedly took Ȼ1,000 to perform at the event, an amount that has triggered unfavourable criticism from lovers of the ‘One Corner’ song.

Fans of the artiste have called on him to reject the offer.

But the manager said: “This is false because, as far as I’m concerned, nobody has contacted me for Patapaa to perform at the RTP, and I stand as a manager for Pataapa.”

Although he admitted he was contacted by the event organisers, Mr Bokpin said no formal agreement was signed between them.

The desperation of RTP Awards organisers, he noted was seen when they met Patapaa and handed him the money. But after the artiste was told the money was his performance fee, he told them to first inform his manager.

“So I called the guy and said look! I’m the manager, and we’re not accepting a thousand Ghana cedis or whatever amount you have agreed with your people. Let’s see a contract which is fair enough then my artiste is good to go,” he explained.
