Abraham Attah Gets Lead Role In $5m Movie

Young Ghanaian actor Abraham Attah has been named as a lead character in a new movie “Ade’s Journey.” Ade’s Journey is a superbly crafted rite of passage story written by top screenwriter/producer Brendan Foley, set against a backdrop of migration, human trafficking, and football

Based on true events and hugely topical, Ade’s Journey is creatively pitched in the genre of Slumdog Millionaire and Billy Elliot and is a touching story about a West African boy’s perilous 6000-mile walk from Africa to Europe along the migrant route in search of soccer stardom at a top Premiership football club.

With a compelling story set across West and North Africa, Italy, France and the UK, the project already has the support of FIFA, the Premier League, UNICEF and UNHCR due to the child migration and football themes in the picture.

Meet Juliet Ibrahim’s ex Husband Kwadwo Safo, his wife and kid

Kwadwo Safo Jnr, the CEO of the Kantanka Group, which is now split into an electronics division and a car manufacturing company, has opened up about his new wife and family.

After ending his marriage with actress Juliet Ibrahim, Kwadwo entered a relationship with Zainab Bonkano, a businesswoman who is into large scale buying and selling. Kwadwo officially married Zainab on March 5, this year. The two have a two-year-old son together, and a few weeks ago they welcomed a baby girl.

The CEO of Ghana’s first car-making company opened up to me on the type of wife Zainab is, and shared tips on how to be a good father and husband.

Kwadwo Sarfo with family

She is caring, loving, tough and intelligent. I love that she is very understanding and supportive. My wife graduated from Central University with a marketing degree. She helps with the marketing for my group of companies once in a while,” Kwadwo Safo Jnr said of his wife.

According to him, as a very busy man that is on a mission, he does well to squeeze anytime he gets just to be with his family. “My wife said she understands that I am busy and that I am a loving hubby. I am the type that wants to let my family enjoy the best that life has to offer”.

Although Kwadwo has a busy routine, for him family comes first and good parenting is key. He listed some tips for parenting, saying:“You must give your kids the best education, teach your kids the ways of the Lord. You must do your best to keep the bad things you do away from your kids, like arguing once in front of them. Don’t force your kids to do things they don’t have passion and love for, you need to set the path well for a good future for your kids”.

Kwadwo who together with his siblings were mostly home-schooled from basic level until they graduated into the tertiary level, says he wouldn’t mind doing the same with his children. “I would want to homeschool my kids at one point in time. My kids are angels. They are my best friends. They are gifted like their grandfather.”

A typical day with my kids is full of noise and playing. I do my best to teach them about what I do, even though they are not old enough to understand. I don’t get much time to spend with them but anytime we are together is special.

DKB pokes at Funny Face andAfia Schwarzenegger

Comedian Derick Kwabena Bonney alias DKB has said he does not entirely believe fellow comedienne, Afia Schewarzengar’s marriage scandal is true.

DKB says, the whole drama which started days ago with videos of Afia surfacing on social media, was staged judging from some of the things that came out of the “former” lovebirds.

The comedian stated on 3Music show on TV3. According to DKB, the whole issue looked untidy with the two sounding as though they planned to come out with “a very sensual stage play that involves nudity”.

The comedian also said what happened to another comedian, Funny Face makes marriage one dreadful journey.

He said: “A part of me thinks it could be staged, a very sensual stage play that involves nudity you might not know. “How are you caught cheating and the only thing that comes is, I borrowed money to do the wedding? “And the guy too, you see in the heat of the moment, the first thing you say is the truth”.

Quoting Lawrence Abrokwah, the estranged “ex-husband” of Afia, DKB said he heard him say “Afia, is that how you are and you came to marry me oh no, I came to marry you”?

The awarding winning comedian said, “That line gave him away and Afia also saying, I went to borrow money for the wedding”.

DKB said the actions of his colleagues, Afia and Funny Face, whose broken marriage was also in the media days ago, make the whole concept of marriage very useless.

“So for me, I think people should keep their marriage stuff to themselves because it makes the whole thing dreadful and becomes more useless.

#AfiaAffairGate: Anita Erskine Weighs In

It seems like the Afia Schwarzenegger story has many sides that we will keep on finding out as the days progress. Media personality, Anita Erskine has also given her two cents about this escapade and the ramifications on Afia.

Anita Erskine in a lengthy post talked about the ‘weak’ side of Valentina Agyeiwaa popularly called Afia Schwarzenegger which most social media users have not had the privilege to witness.
Read the post below:
“For a very vocal generation, with the internet at our mercy, our silence is horribly loud! We maintain our silence about the truth that hurts us and would rather showcase a “forced” strength, camouflaged in laughter, smiles, and terms of endearment, in order to protect and shield the ones we love (even when we know they don’t love us back). And we have to start speaking up loudly and fighting back harder. Here’s what I concluded after the hearty discussion with @queenafiaschwarzenegger. Afia’s life is exactly that….her’s.
“It’s as simple as that. As a full grown adult, how she lives it and with whom for that matter, is her choice. As a citizen, human being and Woman, her protection is our’s…….ESPECIALLY when a clearly domestic affair, has become a public circus. She said something that hit and stung me into shame “If these threats were made towards any other woman and this video had been circulated with any other woman as the victim, every security agency, law enforcement body and social group would jump into action to protect her and prosecute the man….but I am Afia Schwarzenegger so you’re all going to sit, watch, laugh and say I deserve it….you forget that after everything is said and done, I am a human being and blood runs through my veins just like you.

This morning, I spent some quality time with my friend @queenafiaschwarzenegger. We chatted about motherhood, woman hood, work/life balance, the media industry and everything else in between. We laughed at some things. But then, as naturally as the current environment would have it, our conversation glided into her life over the last 144 hours and counting! A gorgeously hefty blend of humiliation, fear, confusion, emotional torture and above all, abandonment.
Our conversation spotlighted everything from the night of the now famously infamous #AfiaAffairgateto the importance of teaching her daughter Pena different languages. As much as I didn’t want to come off as a nosy reporter, my genuine zeal to discover and uncover stories for the sake of lifting my voice and roaring out the need to fight for justice for Women reared its ugly head. And I asked the question of doom. “Afia what happened that day?” At first, she smiled…..and then as if the veins in her throat were about to burst, she began to speak. Half way through, she broke down. I let her cry it out and waited a few minutes, distracting myself with her daughter, Pena, who was seated at my feet, happily distracted by cartoons. After a while, we resumed our conversation and spoke at length. We spoke about second chances and purpose. Here’s what I learned this morning…..1) If Journalists swore an Oath before assuming office or going out into the field of work, the way doctors and lawyers do, we would consciously research, powerfully inform, thoroughly follow through and aggressively protect the subjects of our stories. 2) Every human being, no matter how overtly and overly boisterous, seemingly nonchalant, can indeed hurt baldy and be broken into tiny pieces in a way that can have an eventual wholesome destruction if other parties don’t intervene. 3) Women, in particular, own what I call “The Skill to Create the Fabulous Art called Covering Up…” be it abuse, violence or anything that clearly poses as a threat to their lives.

Shade Or Nah – Mr Eazi Says Nigerian Artistes Copying His Style

In an interview with Capital Xtra radio in the UK, Mr Eazi spoke about his rise to fame, his relationship with Wizkid and other aspects about the music he makes. however, it seems the portion of whether or not his style of music is being copied by other Nigerian artistes is what has brought about the most attention. He talked about how most of the top Afrobeat acts to come out of Africa are either from Ghana or Nigeria and this makes the music similar. The Afrobeat sensation, Mr Eazi also spoke about how a lot of Nigerian artists are not original.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BY5IG34nIri/?hl=en&taken-by=krakstv

He stated that lately most Nigerian acts have started to incorporate Twi words such as “Maame, sika, odo, banku and waakye” into their songs. He said this phenomenon came about as a result of the popularity of his music.

A lot of Nigerians are not happy with his statements and are already calling him names on social media. On the other hand, his Ghanaians fans are in support of him and giving examples of such songs. If you would remember, earlier in the year, he tweeted that Nigerian music is heavily influenced by the Ghanaian sound. Such statements lead people to question where his loyalties lie.

So far no Nigerian artiste has come out to refute or deny his assertion. We will keep you posted of any development.

Akufo-Addo fulfils major campaign promise as free SHS starts today

More than eight years after it was touted by the New Patriotic Party as a major policy decision that could propel the country’s development, the free Senior High School programme will kick into action Monday as schools across the country reopen.About 400,000 students are expected to benefit from the education policy that will exempt them from paying for tuition and other fees.

At the launch of the logo for the policy two weeks ago, the President said apart from free tuition there will be no fees collected for use of the library, computers, utilities etc. There will also be a free hot meal for day students as well.

“Free SHS will also cover agricultural, vocational and technical institutions at the high school level. I also want to state clearly again that we have a well-thought out plan that involves the building of new public senior high schools and cluster public senior high schools,” the President said recently.

When President Nana Akufo-Addo launches of the programme at the West African Senior High School (WASS) in Accra on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, it will be a fulfillment of his long held campaign promise as far back as the 2008 elections.

Free-shs

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration which won elections in 2008 rolled out what it called the progressively free Senior High School education in 2014.

However, the NPP’s free SHS promise gathered momentum again in the 2016 elections despite an attempt by the previous NDC government to tout the 2014 policy as a better option.

Having won the elections in 2016, the Akufo-Addo government said it will not compromise on implementing the flagship policy despite a number of criticisms — some from within his government.

The President, at any given opportunity, never fails to mention the policy and his obsession to execute it through his “vibrant and energetic” Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

The President is expected to provide further details on policy during the launch programme when he launches the policy on September 12.

The debate over the source of funding for the free SHS program remains contentious.

Senior Minister, Yaw Osarfo Maafo has said the government would use money from the Heritage Fund to fund the policy, but this has been heavily criticized. Critics say the Heritage fund was meant to be reserved for the use by future generations.

However, Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta subsequently announced that contrary to Mr. Osafo Maafo’s claims, the program will be funded with the Annual Budget Funding Amount (ABFA). He said it will cost government GH¢400 million to implement the programme for just the 2017/2018 academic year.

Meanwhile, former Deputy Education Minister, Samuel Okdujeto Ablakwa, is convinced the design of the programme will work against quality education.

“It is not sustainable, especially under the current circumstances. If they want to just for political expediency [implement it] quality will have to suffer,” Mr Ablakwa said recently.

Currently, some schools are yet to receive funding for the implementation of the policy in spite of assurances by the government it will reflect in their accounts last Friday, September 8, 2017.

Joy News checks reveal that the heads of the schools, who have been constantly monitoring bank details of their institutions, are yet to receive the said amounts.

In the video, which is being circulated in social media, the men were seen not just naked but also with a snake across the shoulders of one of them.

This unfortunate development follows an earlier story where YEN.com.gh told the story of three Ghanaian Sakawa boys ( internet fraudsters/money ritualists) who shared harrowing accounts of the horrible things they did to become millionaires and how they want to quit sakawa but have found out that there is no way out for them.In an interview with the Daily Graphic, they opened up about their wealth and the source of it. They said they have millions of dollars in the bank, some of which they have used to buy the latest cars, build costly mansions and acquire many good things of life.
