From ‘The Circle’ Which Boasted of Wet-T-shirt Contests to the Ratchetness at ‘The Mingle’ Here Are Popular Events That Disappeared Into Thin Air (Photos)
2013 was the year of events. Our calendar was literally packed with the hottest events, but somewhere along the line, the events were getting fewer and fewer. Now the only ones remaining are like 2, Blankets and Wine and Koroga and they are more of a niche and somewhat bourgeois events so they don’t exactly scream ‘fuuuun!’.
Here is a list of the hottest events that somehow disappeared under the radar
1.Chaguo La Teeniez
The last we heard of the Chaguo La Teeniez awards was back in 2012 as they celebrated their 10th anniversary. There were talks to revive in back in 2014, but it never came to be.
2.Kisima Awards
Kisima Awards was probably the biggest and oldest (established in 1994) music award show this country has ever seen. Just like CHAT awards their last event was back in 2012 at KICC. But it seems that it could be making a comeback:
3.The Mingle
The Mingle offered a platform where people could meet-up, intermingle and get in touch with their inner child in a relaxed environment.
But it soon turned into a hub of drunkenness, debauchery and ratchetness. Truth be told despite all this, The Mingle is still one of the hottest events of this decade.
4.The Circle
It was at the Circle where Pendo’s nipples made their debut in a wet t-shirt contest.
The brainchild of Bernard Kioko of Bernsoft Entertainment had tongues wagging every first weekend of each month due to their infamous female wet t-shirt contest.
The last we heard of it was in 2014 when it seeked to make a comeback.
5.Barbecue Live
This was an event where you could feast on copious amounts of affordable meat while networking and socializing with people. Unfortunately, the last time the event went down was December last year; there were talks of reviving it early this year, but so far nothing.
7.Boombataa
Boombataa was an event established to celebrate African culture, art, music and fashion through live performances. Its inaugural edition was held in mid 2013 at Ngong
Unfortunately this inaugural event was also its last.
