Former KTN News Anchor Anne Ngugi And Her Husband Accused Of Conning a Nigerian Businessman, Set To Be Arraigned In Court

Anne Ngugi is a huge name in Kenyan media circles. She has worked at both KTN and K24. She has an impressive resume with awesome work experience sop when I came across this story about her, I was in shock. The Nairobi News carried a story today about her being involved in a case involving her husband where the couple are being accused of fraud.

According to the story, her husband, Hypolite Nyongbia and another Congolese, Kamimbaya Soumali are accused of defrauding a Nigerian and two Koreans of Sh6.4 million.
This is a wierd one cause you never really do get to hear about Nigerians being conned, sadly, it’s usually the other way around.

That having been said, Mr Soumali is alleged to have received the cash in Nairobi and Kinshasa on diverse dates between September 20 and October 24 last year by pretending that he could sell them 50 kilos of raw gold.
Prosecutor Chief Inspector Leonard Kurgat said Mr Soumali made his victims to travel between Tanzania, Kenya and the DRC by purporting that he and Nyongbia were dealers in raw gold.

Mr Nyongbia then introduced Mr Soumali to them saying he was a longtime partner.

Soumali denied the charges before Makadara Chief magistrate Timothy Okello and was released on a cash bail of Sh1 million and ordered to deposit his travel papers.

Hearing is on May 30.
