Forget Their Love For Dog Meat…Here Is What The Chinese Want With Kenyan Donkeys
A donkey abattoir has been opened in Nakuru County set to be an exporting slaughterhouse.
This is after the Agriculture CS William Bett allowed its opening and after it had been given the go ahead by the Nakuru County. Goldox Donkey Abattoir will have a capacity of slaughtering 100 donkeys a day and the meat will be majorly exported to China where it is reported the demand for donkey meat is very high.
The owners of the abattoir, Lu Jing and Lu Dongling are Chinese nationals. To ensure the numbers of donkeys in the county is not depleted, the company will breed their own donkeys on a 100 acre farm.
This will be the second donkey abattoir in Kenya after another was opened in Naivasha.
