Find Out if HBR’s Mwalimu Rachel Smokes Bhang to Get Super Active On Air

Listening to Homeboyz Radio every weekday afternoon you can’t help notice the highly energetic and bubbly ear candy. This ear candy is Rachel Muthoni a.k.a. Mwalimu Rachel. However, for some time now, there have been rumours doing rounds that the radio and TV presenter gets stoned before going on air in order to get hyper.

Recently, she had a word with @Ivix D. Karanja where she addressed the ‘bangi’ allegation and her radio job. Here’s an excerpt of that;

iVix: Who is Rachel in a few words?

R: Rachel is a life loving, bubbly and optimistic person.

iVix: For how long have you been doing radio?

R: For about 5 yrs now.

iVix: What would you say Kenya’s entertainment industry is like?

R: The industry is evolving. Incorporating younger persons in it, a little more risqué and pushing the boundaries. More competitive and creative.

iVix: You are one of the most energetic radio presenters we have currently and you have so much life when hosting your show, how do you maintain that every day?

R: Aww! Thanks for the compliment. Its easier being lively on air when one isn’t faking it. With me, its not a personality I put on when I switch on the mic then off when am off air. It’s with me 24-7.Its God given!

iVix: Do you have projects you work on or things you attend to when not on air, or is radio your all time job?

R: Apart from radio i am also on Tv, that’s on KBC on Sundays ,same day I have a radio show with Dj Burn on Homeboyz…very hectic..I also MC at events, I  do voiceovers for adverts as well as programs such as XYZ, and also give talks to groups of people who invite me to meetings.

iVix:  Going by your name ‘Mwalimu Rachel’, is it that you ever thought of being a teacher at some point in life?

R: Oh yes! Job number one in my head was to be a lawyer, if not that, be a radio/tv presenter and then be a teacher/lecturer. I get to be Mwalimu Rachel on radio but I believe one day I will be a media lecturer perhaps? Who knows!

iVix:  Would you leave radio for a lower paying job on television?

R: No way. I can do both. I do both right now! haha!

iVix:  What is that one rumor you have ever heard about yourself?

R: That I smoke marijuana/take energy drinks to be active on air.lol! Lord knows I have never!
