Exclusive: The Real Reason Why a KTN Desk is falling Apart
In May, Saddique Shaban, a good-humored and meticulous Sports anchor and reporter parted ways with KTN after 8 years. This move not only dented the Sports desk but also left KTN with only one English Sports anchor.
Even though Saddique’s reason for exit from KTN was never explained, Ghafla! has since established the real reason why the lighthearted reporter left. According to reliable undisclosed sources, Saddique left after series of cold wars and confrontation with Sports Editor Joshua Kemboi who operates the Sports desk in his own style making the sports department and KTN appear bad.
Apparently, Kemboi was always bitter about Saddique taking over the sports desk. However much the jovial anchor tried to work, he encountered problems from Kemboi. He would run to the HR office every time he had issues with the talented sports anchor and made Saddique look bad.

“KTN Sports desk is going down every day due to one person who lives fighting his juniors. If you are talented then you are unsafe in the hands of Joshua Kemboi ,” complains the source adding, “He’s had pronunciation problems on TV for many years which makes many doubt how he was even made it to be the Sports Editor. In fact, Saddique Shabaan left KTN due to the fights he picked with Kemboi.”
KTN which used to be the crème of sports in the country is gradually grinding to a halt thanks to Kemboi who has no contacts despite being in the newsroom for more than 15 years. The desk now operates with only three reporters; Hassan Jumaa, a senior reporter, Victor Ogalle who doubles English and Swahili reporting and Nicholas Mudimba who also reports in English and Swahili as well as anchors Prime Sports after the likes of Celestine Karoney and Robert Soi who defined the KTN Sports desk jumped ship.
