Exactly 5 Years Ago, This Is What Happened At Standard Group Limited! Forget The Infamous Invasion By The State

Standard Group Limited has always ensured that competition in the media industry in Kenya is rife and healthy and has always existed to inject new things and ideas in the already flooded market.

The Mombasa Road based media group is home to KTN, SDE, Radio Maisha and The Standard Newspaper among many others.

Well, forgetting the infamous invasion of the Standard Offices by the state a few  years ago, an invasion led by the infamous Arthur Brothers and which the state vehemently denied having a hand in, something bigger happened exactly 5 years ago.

Today, Radio Maisha, one of the fastest growing radio stations in the country and which has been in the forefront in giving others a run for their money, is celebrating its 5th anniversary.

It was on a day like this that Standard Group acquired the then Radio Simba and rebranded it into Radio Maisha, something that saved the dwindling radio Simba.

Radio Simba was not as popular it was expected to be despite posting revered presenters like Massawe Japanni (currently of Milele FM) and Linda Oriaso (former Q FM presenter who also made a short stint at Radio Maisha recently).

The coming in of Radio Maisha was a clear indication that the radio industry in the 254 was growing steadily after the realization of media freedom to some extent in Kenya.

And five years down the line, Radio Maisha, which boasts some of the best presenters on the land, is ranked among the best radio stations in the country.

Happy 5th Anniversary Radio Maisha.
