European leaders, Obama say must maintain NATO cooperation

US President Barack Obama and European leaders stressed Friday that cooperation through international bodies including NATO must be maintained, as they also vowed to keep up sanctions against Russia over the conflict in Ukraine.
In the talks during which jittery European partners sought reassurances from Obama after the shock election of Donald Trump, the six parties also agreed that a diplomatic solution is the only viable end to the war in Syria.
