Viral stories in Kenya became stale a few weeks after they hit headlines with a magnitude of a ferocious Tsunami but just like ocean tide, they recede and nobody seems to be bothered by them again.

Everybody is now talking about DJ Crème De La Crème’s sex tape. It’s funny how the mix master’s scandal hijacked headlines when everybody was talking about Governor Kabogo’s hate speech.

But a few weeks from now, nobody will give a damn about Crème’s sex tape. And months from now, some folks wouldn’t even tell who Crème is.

Crème’s sex tape aside, below is a compilation of other scandals that sent shockwaves across Kenya.

1. Laura Akunga

Do you remember the lady who bought her husband a Kes 10 SUV? Laura Akunga was the talk of the nation after she defied social norm making many to think she was a sugar mama.

But no, she didn’t find it weird to spoil her sweetheart with a costly vehicle. Remember she also flew him to a have lunch in some restaurant.

What followed next? Laura was admitted to a hospital after learning she was being sued for allegedly failing to pay KShs. 17.6M to businessman Sriram Bharatam of Iridium Interactive.

And who gives a f**k about Laura now? Unless she has a sex tape I don’t see her hitting headlines again like she did.

2. Marya

The sultry songstress attracted media’s attention after Sonko’s daughter, Salma Mbuvi, accused her of being a husband snatcher.

Salma claimed Marya was smashing Kevin who was legally married to her aunt. Of course the two lovebirds defended their love and managed to triumph over their critics.

I hear Marya has since moved to Dubai to be with Kevin. Their scandal is no longer juicy

3. Yvonne Okwara

Hehehe… She suffered the same fate as Marya. Yvonne was stripped by gossipers for walking down the aisle with someone’s hubby.

Word had it that Yvonne and her husband, Andrew Matole Konde, changed their wedding venue a number of times because they feared some jilted girlfriends and wives could storm the event and disrupt their wedding.

Sources suggested that Andrew wasn’t formally divorced by the time he was marrying Yvonne. His former wife, Alice, had allegedly accused him of infidelity and was planning to cause mayhem at Yvonne’s wedding.

Who still remembers that scandal?? Your guess is as good as mine, nobody!

4. Pastor Kanyari

Do I even need to remind you what the controversial man of god did?? Mohammed Ali and John Allan Namu’s exposé on Pastor Kanyari went viral for weeks.

Kanyari was running a call center just like Safaricom but his was meant to reap the faithful off their hard earned money.

So where is Kanyari now?? Is he behind bars or Perhaps he flew abroad? Not many are concerned about his whereabouts.

5. Pastor Nganga

This was made headlines a few months ago after he caused an accident in Limuru killing a female motorist.

The Neno Evangelism televangelist was a hot topic especially after he vanished when the public mounted pressure on the police to take action.

Nganga denied his involvement in the accident even when evidence showed he was reeking of guilt. He was apprehended and he’s now facing a lengthy court process.

6. Helicopter Ministries’ Bishop

Just like Nganga, he too was involved in a road accident in Othaya. A drunk Bishop Thomas Wahome knocked down another drunkard with his Range Rover.

He initially denied his involvement but a few days ago, Bishop Thomas confessed he killed Godfrey Mwaniki in Othaya.

But his story no longer has traction even though the court is yet to rule of Bishop Thomas’ case.

7. Laura Oyier

She’s also called the serial bill defaulter. Laura Oyier received unrivalled media attention after failing to offset a six figure hotel bill at Intercontinental Hotel.

The American wannabe attracted national publicity again after she failed to pay her bill at Villa Rosa Kempinski.

I hear hotels have since blacklisted her. But who still cares about Laura anyway?

8. Mugo Wa Wairimu

No other story could sell days after Citizen TV exposed the evil acts of the quack. ‘Dr.’ Mugo Wa Wazimu was seen in a viral footage forcing himself on one of his patients whom he sedated.

Mugo was the darling of the media until his story became stale. The ninja is still fighting to prove his innocence in the corridors of justice but he isn’t receiving much media attention.
