Did Colonel Mustafa Steal Dodoma Singida From Late Tanzanian Singer Mangwea? Here Are Some Interesting Details

Veteran singer Colonel Mustafa has been riding on his latest release Dodoma Singida, a song that has courted a lot of controversy and rattled women and men in equal measure across the country.

Mustafa himself has been making headlines recently after being involved in altercations with celebrities like Nyota Ndogo and former Buzz writer Adhiambo Odera. While Nyota Ndogo launched a scathing attack on the singer, Mustafa went ahead to do the same to Adhiambo after she criticized his video on KTN.

Well, that aside, Dodoma Singida has close to 39k views a week after it was launched. Some have congratulated the singer while others are of the idea that he went overboard with his semi-nude scenes in the video, something that people see as lack of respect for women.

Away from that, as I perused through my gallery, I came across this song by the late Mangwair, a Tanzania rapper whose life was cut short by alcoholism and drugs when he toured South Africa to do his music.

Before his death, Mangwair had done a song he calls Singida Dodoma, a song which he never lived to do a video for. May he rest in peace.

And now our own Mustafa has come up with his own, with just an a change of the arrangement of the words in the title. While Mangwair’s is Singida Dodoma, Mustafa’s is Dodoma Singida.

So how comes Mustafa just used almost the same title as that of the late Mangwair’s song? Did he steal the song from the Tanzanian rapper?

Is Mustafa confirming accusations that he has never been creative ever since he plunged himself into the music industry? Is he that type of person who rides on others’ struggles to curve out a niche for himself?
