COVER VIDEO: Just A Band’s Probably For Lovers

Just A Band’s brilliant 2012 single gets an equally brilliant cover and beautiful video from a rising star.

Mumbi, a Kenyan born and Botswana-raised singer credits her upbringing there for the grooming of her voice. “I grew up listening to Brenda Fassie, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and much more, I found myself always wanting to emulate them in voice.”

She makes a debut on what was undoubtedly the best song of 2012, covering the experimental band’s first single, Probably For Lovers, off their last album, Sorry For The Delay. She says the cover was inspired by the uniqueness of Just A Band’s music and the feeling that one song in particular brought out of her. She goes a step ahead and even makes a video for the cover.

Just A Band is probably my favorite band to come out of Kenya next to Sauti Sol. I think people in the West tend to underestimate African music and as an artist, it’s inspiring to hear such music.”
