Citizen TV Sends Evelyne Wambui, Kendagor Obadiah, Pheona Kenga And Patrick Injendi Packing. More Are Still To Be Laid Off

Kenya’s leading television station, Citizen TV, has fired four top cream reporters something which has sparked anxiety on social media.

It seems what happened at Standard Group (SG) and Nation Media Group (NMG) last year is now slowly finding its way into Royal Media Service (RMS).

SG and NMG last year conducted mass retrenchment following the forced shift to digital platform which reportedly affected their revenues.

RMS is no different so it’s reportedly also cutting its budget on traditional media as more money is being pumped to the now lucrative digital platform.

Their first step came with the firing of top Citizen TV reporters namely; Evelyne Wambui, Kendagor Obadiah, Pheona Kenga And Patrick Injendi.

A source within RMS told Ghafla! Evelyne Wambui was sacked because she had started slacking in her job in recent times due to personal reasons that we were told not to reveal.

The source also said Evelyne Wambui had developed an attitude knowing she was the best in the game; her hot exposés having gotten into her head. Remember she was the one who broke the Mugo Wa Wairimu story.

For the other three reporters, the source says they were not meeting the threshold at Citizen TV. The source also told Ghafla! that this was just the beginning as more layoffs are due to come.
