CBD Street Bash Cancelled After Westgate Attacks

The free street bash that the Goethe-Institut was throwing today as part of the TEN CITIES project has been cancelled following the attack at the Westgate Mall this morning.

The street bash, which would have taken place just outside the Goethe-Institut on Monrovia Street, was expected to feature DJ sets from Just A Band, G-Money, Rob Smith, Okhmalumkoolkat and DJ Raph.

Here is the statement from the Goethe-Institut:

Today’s TEN CITIES Street Bash is Cancelled

Our thoughts go out to all those affected by the ongoing crisis in Westgate Mall, especially those still holed up in the building. We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of those who have lost their lives tragically; and for those who have been injured we hope for a speedy recovery. We hope that the situation will be resolved as soon as possible and without any further injury or loss of life.

In consequence of this horrific event, we are cancelling the planned street party, and postponing the farewell for our outgoing director, which were to have been held this evening.
