Award Winning DJ Selected to Take Part in Kenya’s “The Apprentice”

Following the launch of Upstart Africa TV, the country’s very first televised start-up show that will bring together young aspiring ‘techpreneurs’. Basically, the program is about entrepreneurship, creativity and business; more or less like “The Apprentice” and ‘Shark Tank” with a touch of “Big Brother”. Auditions were conducted around the country and those who qualified shortlisted.

Among those was award-winning Coast DJ, entertainment manager and events organizer, DJ Lenium. Born Michael Jerry Otieno, DJ Lenium shot into the limelight in 2002, while still in high school. He joined HomeBoyz Academy and did his DJ Course. In the same year he organized his first event bringing to Mombasa for the very 1st time – KORA Award nominee Rufftone and Harry G.

DJ Lenium is a Journalism degree holder Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the Africa Virtual University Degree Programme.

The reality show, to be broadcast on NTV, will run for a period of 13 weeks beginning 21st of November and is scheduled for all the Thursdays from 8pm to 9pm.

It will see 24 contestants divided into eight teams come together to battle it out by developing commercially viable innovations. The winning team will walk away with a grand prize of $50,000 (Sh4.3 million) to invest in their start up to ensure business success.
