American Socialite Named The Maasai Project Ambassador
The I-honestly-don’t-know-what-she-does,hey-can-anyone tell us-why-is-she-famous-again- New York-based model, fashion consultant, and business woman HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAASAI PROJECT AMBASSADOR.
Olivia Palermo is definitely famous, but the rest of the details are unclear. The “socialite” doesn’t really seem to be famous for any particular reason aside from being immaculately-dressed and beautiful and having played been that bitchy girl on that one reality TV show on MTV some odd years ago.
Also, she’s photographed constantly, alongside her gorgeous, equally funemployed “model” boyfriend, Johannes Huebl.
Last October, the ambassador for the Maasai collection, Olivia Palermo, visited the Maasai Mara Reserve to see the Maasai project in person. So what IS The Maasai Project? The Maasai Project employs more than 1,600 Maasai women to hand-embroider accessories in order to earn a stable source of income. So, you know, choosing her was obviously an awesome idea, she is associated with fashion (remember? The MTV show?) so I guess she could be somewhat legit for the brand.
But genuinely, couldn’t they have chosen someone better? A celebrity with a little more soul than Olivia Pa-what-no? I’m not saying she’s a bad person or anything, I don’t know her personally, but the ensuing lookbook showing Palermo standing alongside the Maasai tribe (holding hands, standing in a Kumbaya-inspired single file, looking forlonly into the camera) is all sorts of cringe-worthy. (What excellent modelling!!!!!)
Anyhow, the lookbook was shot by….. Wait for it, her boyfriend Johannes Huebl. Wait, how did these two qualify for this again?????? Errrrrrrrrrm, I just hope someone has patented them Maasai sandals before another Kenyan symbol is taken away from us. (Ref Kikoy and the fact that apparently Kenya no longer has any rights to the word KIKOY.) Hey, if the Maasai inspiration was good enough for Louis Vuitton, it DEFINITELY is good enough for this rich kid.
Socialites, man! Well at least she is one of the dying breed of real socialites (all Kenyan socialites need not apply.)
