After hiring Michael Joseph, KQ now turns to Qatar Airways executive to reverse its fortunes

Kenya Airways has appointed a senior vice president from Qatar Airways to a top managerial position in its ranks.
Vincent Coste, the senior vice president Qatar Airways for the Indian sub-continent is now the airline’s new commercial director.
Coste, has also previously held several senior roles within the aviation industry including a decade at Air France-KLM group.
Through an internal memo to its staff, KQ indicated that Coste would be in charge of sales, network planning and revenue management functions.
 
The new director will also be in charge of ticket pricing, scouting for and entering into partnerships like code-sharing agreements, new product development as well as planning new routes among others.
The appointment is part of the new managerial changes at the national carrier that also saw former Safaricom CEO Michael Joseph appointed as board chairman.
The airline had a troublesome month in October that saw the Kenya Airlines Pilots Association (Kalpa) call for a strike as they demanded an overhaul of the airline’s top brass citing lack of confidence in them.
However, last week, saying they were confident with the recent developments which they believed will positively impact the airline’s recovery efforts.
