Africa’s ‘Best Film’ Viva Riva to Screen in Nairobi

Having debuted in Nairobi on October 7th 2011, internationally acclaimed and arguably Africa’s best film, Viva Riva, is set to be re-screened on the 5th of July 2012 due to popular demand.

‘Viva Riva’ won Best Picture (Africa) at the MTV Movie Awards and also scooped a record-breaking 6 awards at the 2011 African Movie Academy Awards.

Here’s a brief synopsis of the film:

Riva (Patsha Bay Mukana), a charming, fast-thinking con man, has stolen a truckload of gasoline from some crooks in Angola and plans to resell it for a small fortune in Kinshasa.

Riva is not a cautious thief. He’s a partying ladies’ man, whose objective in getting money is to spend it. He falls head over heels with Nora (Manie Malone), the mistress of a local crime lord.

Soon Riva is being pursued by the gangster’s men and also by the very angry Angolans who want their gasoline back.

Find out who’s left standing at the end of this crime caper of which Roger Ebert said – “A true achievement – a Congolese feature that is the rival or superior of any hard-boiled Western film.”

Viva Riva has garnered accolades from film critics around the world, prompting comparisons of the film’s Director Djo Munga to the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie.

The screening will be a one off at the Starflix Cinemas Prestige Plaza so mark the date and spread the word!

Tickets are only Kshs. 400 and for an extra Kshs. 100 you can have unlimited popcorn.
