A Glimmer Of Hope For Teachers Even After The Court Orders Them To Resume Duty Next Week.
In a surprising turn of events, the court has made an order for all the striking teachers to resume work on Monday. This comes after the TSC had challenged the legality of the teachers strike. The judges however, finding the strike legal, made a ruling that:
All teachers should report back to work on Monday and that all the September salaries should be paid ( TSC had recommended that the salaries for September be scrapped as discipline to the striking teachers)
Justice Nelson Abuodha ordered the teachers unions to suspend the strike for 90 days in order for the government to negotiate with the teachers unions on the teachers remuneration impasse.
With the ruling TSC will no longer victimize union members by deducting monies from their earning in the event of a strike. At the end of the 3 months, either party has the right to lodge complaints if the negotiations are not successful.
