Rashid Abdalla, Larry Madowo Jeff Koinange And Other Top Journalists Whose Jobs Are Under Threat At Nation Media Following The Restructuring Process
With the looming restructuring process at Nation Media Group, there are plenty of jobs at threat with many prominent names from journalists to show hosts being among those set to be affected.
Some may be affected in more ways than others since for some what the process means is simply a loss of one show or function. For others however, the next few weeks will probably be the last time they set foot in the prestigious media house. With the scrapping off Nation FM and QFM and the merging of QTV with NTV there will be numerous guys losing jobs and as past experiences in other media houses have proved, even big names are not spared from the axe.
Larry Madowo and Jeff Koinange
These two are definitely the biggest names that could be affected. However, they have bigger jobs elsewhere and all they are losing is a radio platform as their shows are going to be lost inevitably. Jeff Koinange hosted a country music show while Larry had his Larry Madowo Show.
Rashid Abdalla
He is one of the prominent names in the Swahili hosts and journalist fraternity working at both QFM anf QTV. His stint at QFM ends with the end of the station but we reckon the merging of QTV and NTV will still get him a spot as he is among the best talents both at news anchoring and show hosting. His legion of fans should also serve him in good stead.
Jimmy Gathu
Having been poached to come and boost the ratings of the fledgling and newly re-branded Easy FM, the veteran media personality finds himself out of work again. You can always trust him to resurface somewhere else but currently it does not look like NMG is anywhere in the offing.
Munene Nyagah
Ever since he made the switch to Swahili and TV he has lost quite of the touch and mastery of the masses with which he had people glued to. At his peak he was one of the Kings of radio but his desire for a new challenge sees him likely to be among the biggest losers of the new decision.
Ken Walibora
The prominent author and Swahili professor had a commentary show at QFM but that does end with the closure of the radio station. He probably will not feel the loss given his range of skills and published works.
Other QFM and Nation Fm presenters to be affected include Eunice Waithera, Karis the comedian and QFM, Chris Okinda, Mimmo, Sally Kadot and Zetty Binti Omari.
