Kenyan Lady Entrepreneur Endorsed And Honored By Michelle Obama In The US (Video)

A Kenyan female entrepreneur was the toast of a dinner held in the US whose chief guest was the First Lady Michelle Obama.

The State of Women Summit dinner at the US Department of State was co-hosted by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Women, an initiative that recognizes  and  supports the achievements of women in Middle East, East and North Africa. In her speech,

Mrs. Obama chose to highlight the example of a Kenyan woman Ciru Waithaka a Kenyan architect and founder of Funkidz. Ciru graduated from the Glasgow School of Art at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, with a degree in interior architecture. She came to Kenya founding her company whose factories are in Kiambu and offices in Westlands.

She got a loan from  Goldman Sach’s 10,000 Women and with her success went on to help children from struggling families funding currently 350 children. Here is a video on what Obama said about her
