“You Know You Have Never Sat In A University Classroom…” Education Minister Fires Shots To The Likes Of Waititu
Fred Matiangi has without a doubt been the best performing minister in a cabinet lacking in stars.
However, it is in his recent appointment as the Education secretary that he has real come out as an effective worker and someone who does not suffer fools lightly. His recent comments on the role of the Commission of University Education to verify the qualifications of leaders have sure rubbed a number of leaders the wrong way.
Not that the comments are wrong in any way but rather because they are the honest biting truth. In fact Matiangi’s words could have been directed to the Kiambu duo of Waititu and Kabogo.
The two have been engaged in a war of words that escalated to a court battle over the authenticity of their higher education qualifications. A visibly irritated Matiangi had no qualms issuing a rather scathing attack to political leaders seeking election without the necessary qualification. This is what he said ‘“You know you have never sat in a university classroom. You know you have actually never done a university exam in your life. You are carrying a piece of paper which you bought from some country, then you actually want to go to court for a judge to determine that you went to school so that the judge protects your position that you hold office. We are shocked at the country in which we live,” he stated.
