Well, one guy who has seen his sweat rewarded in just one night has to be Kenya’s newest striking sensation Michael Olunga. The Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars forward was voted in as the the Footballer of The Year during the KPL awards gala last night.
As the winner he picked up a cheque of 1 million KES for his exploits during the season that has seen him help the Green army go unbeaten in winning the championships. He was given 300,000 KES extra for his goal scoring efforts that saw him become the second runners up position.
Olunga saw off competition from Jesse Jackson Were of Tusker who topped the Kenya Premier league scoring charts with 22 goals. For his goal scoring run which saw him earn the golden boot and beat Allan Wanga’s record of 21 goals.
