Sheila Mwanyigha And Other Top Kenyan Celebrities Who Have Been Sacked Unceremoniously This Year (Some Are Still Unemployed)

It is a harsh world out there for media industry workers as reputations, experience and skill apparently do not count when the chop comes.

Here is a list of talented, experienced and well known personalities who illustrate the brutal truth of this fact.

Dr. Ofweneke

The accomplished comedian was one of the few top comedians who had redefined the role of a clown in the radio. However, this was apparently not good enough when it counted most and the presenter was shown the door in the recent restructuring process at Mediamax Ltd

Sheila Mwanyigha

Beautiful, astute, experienced and charming, it was almost impossible to imagine a time when Sheila Mwanyigha would not be part of the media fraternity in one way or the other. Unfortunately for her fans and her to, the time came this year when Nation Media decided to reduce its salary budget and the radio queen was shown the door.

Titi Nagwala

Titi is a legend of radio and one of the few masters on how to turn up a start up a station or show up the ratings charts. His dismissal thus came as a shock especially given that he was the Radio Division programs manager and he had a rhumba show on Saturday. He has been to any notable Swahili radio and his experience, skill and fan base are sure to guarantee him a slot somewhere pretty soon.

Mwanaisha Chidzuga

Her sacking from KTN was headline grabbing especially on the manner in which it was delivered, just as she was walking in to the studio. Mwanaisha had contemplated quitting her television career but she has just found a new employer.  It now seems that quitting will have to wait as the accomplished Swahili TV presenter makes a comeback.

Sanaipei Tande

Sana is another radio queen whose sacking many lamented. She had cut out a niche for herself and despite having been poached from Kiss FM, Nation found her skills unwanted and bid her farewell to the ire of her fans.

Anto Neosoul

Anto Neosoul may have won his fans with his voice and lyrics but the cash strapped NMG needed a couple of guys out and he was among the 36 top employees who were shown the door.
