Happy #MoiDay: Top 5 things Kenyans miss about Moi
Years ago on a day like this, thousands of Kenyans would gather at Nyayo National Stadium to celebrate Moi Day, a national holiday that used to celebrated every 10th day of October in honour of the former president.
Here are the top 5 things Kenyans fondly remember Moi for:
1. The way every KBC news bulletin began with his portrait and the famous line “His Excellency president Daniel Toroitich Moi today…”
2. Every pupil who went to primary school in the 90s will never forget the legendary free Maziwa Ya Nyayo.
3. The patriotic songs “….Tawala Kenya Tawala…” and the choirs that used to entertain him during public functions.
4. He was a strict time-keeper was never late for any function. He attended church religiously and every Sunday news bulletin would begin by showing him attending a church service.
5. His classy and immaculate suit adorned with a fresh rose every day. Moi was also noted for his famous trademark white rungu, which he always carried everywhere he went.
