Witnesses Recount in Court one by One the Chilling Events of How Mukwereini MP Kabando Wa Kabando’s Brother Hacked Their Mother To Death
Patricide crimes have been on the increase in Kenya at a time when little value is being placed on human lives.
Usually victims are from poor families and the dispute is inheritance or some property dispute. Rarely has a parent of a prominent member of society fallen victim of such callous murder.
Not until on 27th July 2014 in Mukurwe-ini constituency when the area MP’s brother hacked their mother to death. Ceaser Thiari , the youngest of six children of the Late Rose Wachera descended on his mother with a panga while they were having tea hacking her to death. He was arrested by police and charged with his mother’s murder.
Yesterday while in court, witnesses recounted the chilling events of that day that led to the death of the 70 year old mother. Many said they had responded to the cries of the late Rose only to arrive late as her last born son had hacked her down and beheaded her. She had died about 30 meters from the spot of the first attack.
They said Thairi had attacked her with panga blows and when she fell he had proceeded to chop her head leaving just a small shred of skin holding the head to the rest of the body. A number of them had then rushed to arrest the fleeing man who begged not to be killed but he be taken to the police as he had ‘finished his job’. Witnesses said he had confessed to using bhang which led him to the act.
