The Sad Story Of The Kenyan Marathon Winner Who Is Yet To Be Given His Prize Money (Video)

If you thought every Kenyan athlete who makes it to the podium of a marathon race with prize money gets to walk off with a good check, then you are mistaken.

One marathoner Hillary Kiplimo is proof of the struggles some athletes do face when it comes to getting their money. He participated in the Nairobi Standard Chartered marathon coming up in 3rd position and winning $3,500. However, he never got the money and his name was replaced with another one.

The athlete still struggles with his wife looking for a different opportunity.  His story was shown in the documentary aired on PBS America. The feature has irked the government which responded through the newly appointed Eric Kiraithe.
