Celebrating The Life Of A Legend! Kenya Mourns The Life Of A Man Who Was The First In 300 Yrs To Write His Dissertation In Latin
Kenya is mourning the passing of an icon who has contributed greatly to Kenya’s academic and social circles, Professor Joseph Nyasani.
The professor died at Aga Khan Hospital out of cardiac arrest after battling multiple organ failures according to doctors at the facility. He was 79 at the time of his pasing yet with the zeal to still continue his academic work. As the nation celebrates a rich life filled with outstanding achievements here are 6 interesting facts about the professor;
1. He has been surviving with a bullet lodged in his head for the last 21 years after a gun attack in 1994 saw him shot with the bullet going just above his eye through the skull
2. He once in 1952 formed part of the pupils entertainment troupe that entertained the then Colonial Governor Sir Evelyn Baring in Kisii
3. He is the author of 41 titles in a range of fields from philosophy to a metaphysics
4. He broke a 300 year old record by writing his Doctorate degree dissertation in Latin while studying in Germany 1963.
5. As a young man he was destined to be a catholic priest and was even studying at St Peters’ Seminary in Kakamega
6. He was the first Chairman of the Kisii University Council
