At the start of the week, the news was rife that in one of his many new and quite radical stories, Magufuli had banned mini skirts in Tanzania.

This caused quite a high level of consternation and criticisms a his latest move appeared retrogressive and an infringement on the individual rights and in Kenya where the country has seen protests like for the personal choice of dressing, he was quite ridiculed.

However, it appears the whole story was a hoax and the Nation’s Foreign Affairs ministry has taken quite an exception at the whole reporting and singled out Kenya’s second leading newspaper by circulation numbers, The Standard as bearing the big responsibility and originating the story.

The ministry has released quite a strong worded statement addressing the whole issue.
