Fears Of Xenophobia In Tanzania As Magufuli Chases Foreigners In Tanzania In #Operation Timua Kenyans Among The Affected (Photos)

East Africa’s popular president of the moment, Magufuli Pombe has began an exercise to get rid of foreigners in the region those without work permits and those with part time job permits.

This move has seen the restructuring of Tanzania’s immigration department as the crackdown gets to full steam. Already many Kenyans especially teachers in private schools have fallen victims after their permits were not renewed at the last moment or just told they are out of work.

This apparently is a move to free up jobs for the locals but given the presence of Tanzanians in her neighboring countries it could backfire badly and erode any goodwill the radical president had gained.

The move echoes the xenophobic attacks experienced in South Africa and also undermines the efforts of an EAC community with no tariffs. Here is how the local media welcomed the move
