“Over My Dead Body” Arrogant Ezekiel Mutua Sets Stage For A Major Showdown With Immigration Following Attempts To Strip Him Of His Diplomatic Passport
Ezekiel Mutua has put his foot down to challenge the Immigration Department who wants to relegate him to the league of ordinary citizen.
Ezekiel Mutua himself attracted the attention of the Immigration Department when he flaunted his diplomatic passport. (He doesn’t meet the requirement of being in possession of such kind of passport.)
Immigration Department last week ordered the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO to surrender his diplomatic passport.
Well, it is not going to be easy to make the KFCB boss return his diplomatic passport; Ezekiel Mutua has made it clear he wouldn’t yield to the demands by the Immigration Department.
In a statement, Mutua argued he was informed of the revocation of the passport through the media. He claims official channel was not used to revoke his passport when in essence he had been given the travel document legally.
“While a diplomatic passport is a privilege given to me by my employer, its withdrawal must follow the laid down procedures of a fair and procedural administrative action. Ordinarily, officers who have served in diplomatic positions continue to hold their diplomatic passports until they expire, or they retire from service. I must therefore protest in the strongest terms possible the purported revocation of the passport without prior notification or warning. To learn of such a development from the media while abroad is not only embarrassing but unfair, given that I am out of the country on official duties on behalf of the Government,” Mutua said in a statement.
The KFCB boss is yet to return to Kenya. But when he does, certainly a showdown with Immigration Department is inevitable.
