It has been 6 years since Professor Wangari Maathai passed on at the Nairobi hospital, after a prolonged and bravely borne struggle with cancer. She was an internationally renowned Kenyan environmental political activist and Nobel laureate.

Her departure saddened many who looked up to her. She however left behind a legacy as she became the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for “her contribution to sustainable development, democracy and peace”.

And today as we all celebrated women’s day the lovely Sheila Mwanyigha was among the first people to write a beautiful message to celebrate Wangari Mathaa for her achievements and foe being a mentor to many. Through her Instagram page the lass wrote to say,

All set to celebrate and honor the Bold Women of Kenya, in readiness for International Women’s Day. Go ahead, recognize the Kenyan woman who has made an impact on your life and why! Could be your mum or your sister- or those who’ve passed on but still continue to push you to do better. #BoldWomenKe #IWD2017

Kibaki’s grandson was also not behind as he also dedicated the late Mathaai a moving message that showed how much he appreciate women. He posted the photo below and captioned…
