Even the filthy rich can be reduced to beggars when disaster decides to strike. A multimillion shillings mansion was reduced to ashes by a raging inferno.

A 5-storey apartment building in Kariobangi recently collapsed making some people wonder how the owner was going to come to terms with the loss of millions of shillings he/she pumped into the investment.

But that’s nothing compared to a 25 million shillings mansion in Ocean View, South Coast that was burnt down to ashes by fire that was caused by mere electric fault.

With the nearest fire brigade being hundreds of kilometers away in Mombasa, the owner of the lavish mansion watched as strong wind fueled the fire that burnt his mansion.

While many thought the Italian man had lost his 25 million investment, he revealed had taken an insurance cover with Bancasurrance.

Speaking to locals who were consoling him after they tried in vain helping him put off the fire, the Italian man disclosed that he had insured his house against fire, lightning and flooding.

He explains Bancasurrance cover extended to subterranean fire, spontaneous combustion among other perils that could befall anyone.

Meanwhile the Italian man revealed the fire that torched his house started in the kitchen when he was boiling water using the water heater.

He said he heard the cracking of sparks in the kitchen and when he went to check he saw his wooden roof had already flaring up.

The fire spread quickly as the breeze from the ocean acted as a catalyst to make it light up with intensity to burn the entire mansion.
