“It Is By God’s Miracle” Policeman Earning 40k Defends Himself After Being Busted Maintaining A Mistress 540,000/- Monthly
Unending mistresses can be placed down as one of the reasons why police officers are the monies mostly caught in fatal crimes of passion.
The vetting process currently ongoing especially at the Coast province continues to unravel controversial lives led by the police officers that greatly compromise their integrity. Two things that have emerged from the process is the huge sums of money that swap hands among junior and senior cops as well as their clandestine lives with mistresses being the major receivers of the money collected.
After the first day of the vetting revealed a base boss who could not explain his 50 million wealth, yesterday’s drama even topped that up.
First, a police officer was found to have had transactions worth 35 million alone last year averaging to about 3 million in a month. The police officer’s salary is estimated to be a little less than 45,000 meaning he would need to have worked for several decades about 50 years, in his current position to raise that much money. From 2012, the officer, one Sergeant Boniface Kyalo Muthini was found to have conducted M-Pesa transactions amounting to about 100 million.
In his defense the officer said distance is what led to his money transactions to be carried out through M-Pesa. “I received a loan from the police Sacco in 2013, which was almost a million shillings. I transacted it all through M-Pesa. I have used M-Pesa to pay for most of my work since I work far from home and wouldn’t make it there every now and then. You may have seen some bigger amounts but it is from a longer period,” he said.
Most officers were found to have had mistresses something which a number confessed to it and blames the reason to be the long distance from their spouses. Questioning one of the officers who admitted to having a mistress, one of the vetting panel members asked them why they have the mistresses and how with an average salary of 45,000 KES they were able to maintain their mistresses in luxury, the replay was hilarious as it was saddening.
“Sir, we live far away from our wives and they cannot readily meet our needs. As men, we need to have these things. The mistresses keep us going,” He then admitted after being shown his M-Pesa transaction with his mistress amounting to 540,000 KES, that it was only through a miracle of God that he could pull that off.
It was discovered that the police had opened business for their mistresses or had them as partners to manage their businesses.
