Amani’s Ex Boyfriend AY Awarded Kes 100 Million In Special Damages

If Amani had stuck with AY through thick and thin she would have been a stinking rich multimillionaire, her ex is now worth Tsh 2.18 billion or Kes 100,574,141 million!

Forget Diamond, AY is the real Dangote in Tanzania. The ‘Zigo’ hit maker has been awarded a staggering Tsh 2.18 billion by a Tanzanian court.

AY and Mwana FA had sued telecommunications provider Tigo for unauthorized use of their music as caller tunes and the court ruled in their favor.

Ilala Senior Resident Magistrate Juma Hassan granted the award after a 4 year court battle between AY and Mwana FA vs Tigo.

The two bongo artists claimed Tigo used their dopest collabo ‘Dakika Moja’ and ‘Usije Mjini’ without their approval.

The court ordered Tigo to pay Tsh 5 million in general damages and Tsh 2.16 billion as special damages in addition to the cost of the suit filed by AY and Mwana FA.

The two artists were however demanding Tsh 4.3 billion/Kes 200 million for damages in their application claiming that Tigo had generated a significant sum of money through the sale of their two songs to its subscribers across Tanzania.

Tigo moved to High Court to block the magistrate’s ruling that required them to pay AY and Mwana FA the Kes 100 million.

So the millions haven’t been deposited to AY’s account yet, but surely they are in the pipeline coming as the High Court is expected to rule in their favor again.
