The remains of Acheing Abura taken to church in a precious white coffin
Achieng Abura’s journey on earth is almost coming to an end as only two days have been left until she’s buried.
Afro-jazz songbird Achieng Abura passed on at around 6pm on October 20th at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
Her body has been lying at the mortuary for two weeks as funeral arrangements went on; friends, family and well wishers were meeting to raise funds towards her burial.
A tribute concert for Abura was held on Wednesday at Rubycut, Chania Avenue at 5pm; the gig was also meant to raise money.
A requiem mass for the fallen Afro-jazz songstress was held today November 2 at All Saints Cathedral in the CBD.
Raila Odinga’s wife Mama Ida Odinga, Suzanna Owiyo, Gerriey Wainaina were among those who attended the mass.
Gospel singer Gerriey Wainaina paid tribute to the fallen songbird while singing at her requiem mass.
The remains of Acheing Abura will be taken to Kisumu for burial; the funeral service will be held at Songhor Secondary School on Saturday 5 November from 9am.
