Eight killed in rival clan clashes in Wajir County

Eight people were killed on Saturday after a clan militia launched a deadly attack on Baqala location in Eldas Constituency, Wajir County.
The militia comprising of 40 heavily armed men, attacked the village in the wee hours of Saturday morning burning the houses as they attacked area residents who included women and children.
It is alleged that Wajir County Governor, Hon. Ahmed Abdullahi, who is from a different clan, was responsible for funding the militia to create havoc in Wajir.
 
Governor Abdullahi  has for a long time differed with the area Members of Parliament
The clashes have been caused by rising tension between the two neighboring sub clans.
According to sources, the conflict has been fuelled by the Governor who comes from a rival clan.
This is the first time such an incident has occured involving killings in WajirWest-Eldas constituencies.
