Radio Africa poaches MOST influential Gikuyu presenter from President Uhuru owned station
Njogu Wa Njoroge is arguably the most vocal vernacular presenter on radio; he has built a huge following for the years he has been at Kameme FM.
Njogu influence on masses was demonstrated in 2015 when he raised Kes Sh6.4 million in a record two hours for TV anchor Anjlee Gadvi to fund her treatment for liver cancer.
Gadvi was hosted by Njogu on Kameme FM’s breakfast show where she disclosed her struggle with cancer, she revealed she had depleted her finances following the battle with the chronic disease which she was diagnosed with in 2013.
Njogu also pulled a massive crowd at Safaricom Kasarani Stadium on June 122016 as he marked 15 years in the radio industry.
While Njogu’s exit from President Uhuru-owned radio station was highly unlikely, it actually happened. And the move was initiated by Radio Africa, the umbrella media house for Kiss FM, Class 100, The Star newspaper etc etc.
Ghafla! is told Njogu Wa Njoroge is heading to Radio Africa’s vernacular station, Gukena FM, alongside his famous co-host Man Nyarii and his producer, Lydia Waithera.
Kameme FM’s mid morning host, Njoki Mburu, has also exited the station; she had worked for Kameme since 2004.
Ghafla! has also been told that 7 other presenters are also exiting Kameme FM; inside sources revealed that the presenters are still silent about their exit. We won’t name names for the sake of not compromising their intended moves.
