Harambee Stars notch up an impressive win against Mozambique

The Harambee Stars on Saturday beat Mozambique’s ‘Mambas’ 1-0 in an international friendly match at the Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani in Nairobi.
Eric Johanna’s solitary goal in the 16th minute was enough to maintain Kenya’s unbeaten run under coach Stanley Okumbi.
The Mathare United winger took advantage of a lapse in concentration by the Mozambique defence to slot in the opener for Stars in a first half that was largely dominated by Kenya.
Coach Okumbi started with a twin strike force comprising of Jesse Were and Michael Olunga who has had an impressive season in the Swedish league with 12 league goals for IF Djurgarden.

Kenyan captain and Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama pulled the strings in the midfield as the defence led by David Owino, Brian Mandela and goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch ensured Stars maintained a clean sheet.
Coach Okumbi was satisfied with his side’s performance as they stretched their unbeaten run to seven games.
Okumbi said.
The Stars will now meet Liberia in another warm-up match on Tuesday as they continue their preparations ahead of Chan 2018 competition.
Harambee Stars last month notched an impressive 1-0 win away to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The string of success and impressive results has seen the team move six places up in the latest Fifa ranking which was released on the month of October.
Kenya is currently at position 85 globally having risen from position 91 in the previous ranking.
