Governor Ruto’s “homecoming” to culminate in launch of Nasa

The grand “homecoming” for Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto from South Africa where he has been recuperating from surgery will set the stage for the launch of the much touted National Super Alliance which is expected to rival the Jubilee Party ahead of the 2017 general elections.
The homecoming which has been dubbed a thanksgiving prayer rally, will be addressed by opposition chiefs led by Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka and Kanu’s Gideon Moi.
 
Cord leader Raila Odinga, who is away in Nigeria, could return in time for the rally even though the ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen said he will visit neighbouring Kericho County on Sunday.
The meeting will be the first public appearance by a united opposition front through the National Super Alliance (Nasa) as they seek to unseat the ruling Jubilee Party from power.
The alliance is seeking to unify the opposition parties Orange Democratic Party (ODM), Wiper Party, Ford Kenya, Amani National Congress (ANC),  Kanu and Ruto’s Chama Cha Mashinani.
 
The rally will be held at the 37,000 Bomet Stadium and will be aired across the country via a live television broadcast.
Last month, Mudavadi said his ANC party would engage in with others in the opposition through Nasa.

Governor Ruto on Friday in a tweet said he would arrive in the country at 5pm after a resulting from injuries sustained during an altercation with the police at Sibilwet Stadium in Bomet County.
 
According to the director of information, Bomet County, Mr. Kiprotich Samoei, once he lands from South Africa.
He is expected to meet with friends and family in Nairobi on Saturday morning, before later on holding a meeting with the council of governors and then proceeding to Bomet.
On his way to his county, the governor will make stopovers in Narok County before Sunday’s rally.
