Popular activist causes anxiety and shock as he announces his bid for a parliamentary seat

There is a new entrant to the politics of Nairobi and he comes with a celebrity name and lots of street experience.
Boniface Mwangi has announced his intention to vie for one of National assembly seats available in Nairobi and he has chosen the Starehe Parliamentary seat as his target.
Boniface Mwangi’s announcement which he made during the launch of his book has caught many by surprise.
As with anything associated with the award winning photo journalist turned acclaimed activist, hundreds of theories were given as many agreed and disagreed with his announcement.
Boniface Mwangi is many things to many people. A money making activist, a noise maker, a relentless human rights defender or a voice for the voiceless masses.
One thing both friends, followers and critics agree on is his fearless and passionate pursuits of the numerous causes he engages in. He has taken on institutions and the mighty and hardly has time for sugar-coating or diplomacy.
He is a battle hardened activist with a proven mobilization ability. Indeed his fights and arrests with the police have become among the iconic images of the brutality with which police come down on protestors.

His announcement for interest in political office adds to the increasing drama and narrative of Nairobi elections come 2017. It is yet to be seen whether he will carry his interest through to the ballot box.
Also of interest to many is the kind of party he will chose to follow through his ambitions or whether he will be vying for the seat as an independent candidate.

He has already stated he will not be working with either of Jubilee or CORD. His announcement comes after the launch of his book BMUnbounded as well as his case with the Deputy President William Ruto which is still on going.
