Three Reasons Why You Should Not Be Alarmed Over Mama Lucy Kibaki’s Health

Kenyans yesterday were understandably concerned over the health of Former First Lady Lucy Kibaki. This is after reports emerged that she was critically ill and admitted to Nairobi Hospital’s ICU.

The outpouring messages of good health and concern were a testament to the esteem the First Lady was and is still held in the public eye despite some of her controversial actions. However, a statement from the retired president press team has played down the risk and while appreciative of the concern, they were dismissive of the alarm created.

They say the First lady was first not in an ICU facility but rather had gone to the hospital for a routine check up and not the claimed difficulty in breathing projects. Lastly, the statement said her health is as would be expected of the average 75 year old woman, that is requiring regular and more close observation as compared to a younger lady.

Here is the statement in part.

“It’s merely a routine check up; the kind your and my mother would routinely need to undergo from time to time. Remember our mothers health given their age cannot be the same as that of high school girls. Thanks for asking and for the concern,”
