Drama As MP Who Travelled All The Way From Kirinyaga To Go Bribe Voters In Malindi Is Roughed Up By Residents Before Being Arrested (Photos)

Malindi by-election has been marred by cases of voter bribery which was apparently being done by MPs who are not even from the Coast region.

Malindians have today gone to the polls to choose their new member of parliament following Dan Kazungu’s appointment to Mining docket.

The election is said to be a two horse race between ODM’s William Mtengo and JAP’s candidate Phillip Charo.

Analysts say the by-election will determine JAP’s fate in the coastal region in the coming 2017 general elections that’s why the stakes are high for the ruling coalition.

Mwea MP Peter Gitau was this morning arrested alongside Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa at Kikuyuni area in Malindi after they were discovered to be buying voters ID cards in order for them not to vote.

The MP had reportedly been roughed up by residents before the police took him in. Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu was also ejected from Malindi Central Primary School after he was reportedly caught in election malpractice.
