Blankets and Wine Introduce Tough New Regulations

As East Africa’s premier afro-fusion event grows bigger and better, organizers have taken stern measures to ensure that the increasingly large crowds are secure and behave in a responsible manner.

In a circular released on the 5th of June 2012, the Blankets and Wine management generally seeks to beef up security at the Leisure Gardens in Mamba Village Nairobi as well as prevent alcohol consumption by the under aged.

‘We ask you all to carry yourselves in a dignified and respectful manner and to drink within reasonable limits,’ Blankets and Wine stated, adding that ‘We have built this event slowly and surely with your loyalty and are grateful for the trust you have demonstrated. As we grow, we need your support to keep this festival a mature, safe, respectful, family friendly community centered around music. We need every single one of you to help us “police” our community.

The following policies will thus be effective immediately until the end of the year;

1. Security will have full discretion to ask for ID at the door from any potential patron to determine proof of age

2. All minors (18 years and younger) must be accompanied by an adult/guardian (of 18+ years). Blankets & Wine will deny entry to any minor or group of minors who seek entry to the event without an accompanying adult. Under this circumstance, any monies paid for pre -tickets will be fully refunded at a date that will be communicated to persons denied entry.

3. Security will continue to conduct searches for security purposes but will in addition specifically look out for alcohol in the baggage of all accompanied minors. Entry will be denied to minors and their accompanying adult supervisors if alcohol is found in the bags of the minors.

4. All persons granted access to the event will be expected to wear an entry tag at all times. The tags will distinguish adults from minors by color. Any person found within the premises of the event without a tag will be asked to leave the event immediately.

5. All bars will be located in one enclosed area and will be a restricted access area for persons under 18 years of age.

6. At the discretion of the vendors, ID will be required to buy any alcohol at the designated bars. No person wearing the colored minors tag will be able to buy alcohol at the designated alcohol sales points.

7. Blankets & Wine will double the number of concert security guards within the premises of the event. At their discretion, and with respect for each person’s personal space, concert security can and will intervene in any situation including but not limited to: adults purchasing alcohol for minors; minors accessing and consuming alcohol; minors/ adults getting unruly; potential security situations; and all other incidents that may reduce the general experience for the majority of patrons.

8. Concert security actions will include but not be limited to: immediate ejection from event; police intervention and detention at nearby police station; confiscation of property and any other action deemed necessary and within reason

9. B & W reserves the right to admission and ejection of any person, minors and adults alike, who are at the event causing a general nuisance.
