Internationally Acclaimed Poet Coming to Kenya

On the week of February 10 to 18th, Kenya will host internationally acclaimed Jamaican poet StaceyAnn Chin. Also a writer and activist, she uses her work to question the oppression and the limitations of identity, race, class, sexuality and belonging.

StaceyAnn, an open homosexual, has been featured on The Oprah Show, among other shows and publications, where she spoke candidly about her experiences of growing up in Jamaica and the dire consequences of her coming out as a homosexual there.

StaceyAnn will arrive in Kenya on February 10th and will be hosted by The Nest,  interdisciplinary art organization. She will have a series of conversations with artists and activists and a public performance on Saturday 15th February at 7:30 p.m., at the Southern Sun – Mayfair Hotel. The event dubbed, An Evening with Staceyann Chin, will be a book-reading and poetry performance.
