Nai Ya Who? Festival To Take Nairobi By Storm!

That happens to be the question Juliani asks, in a very catchy song that he recently released. Did you watch that video?

His exact words are, “Na hii Nai ya nani ya who?” That video was produced by Dillie, and shot by Hatari on I-phone. Watch it here.

Well this is the just the tip of the iceberg for a campaign, that seeks to redefine the image we have of Nairobi. This is the information I have as of now concerning this laudable campaign.

Nai

‘Nai ni Who? promises to be a festival of it’s kind, redefining what was once known as ‘the city in the sun’. The 12 week festival will engage different communities within Nairobi, while encouraging them to have ‘identity talks’ about their communities, neighbourhood walking tours and pride parades to showcase their ‘hoods’ and their unique contributions to the city.

A festival of festivals, it will be celebrating the rich diversity of Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi. It will be an exploration of Nairobi, in a 3-month festival of 12 weeks covering 12 neighborhood zones. Celebrating the good, the bad & the possibilities. The Nairobi communities and ‘hoods’ each have a unique aspect about them; an identity that stands out while at the same time contributing to the character of Kenya’s major city, Nairobi. It’s a celebration and conversation about our beloved city.

This is what I got from their website Nai ni who.

‘From May 11th to August 3rd, Nairobi is in the spotlight, sharing who we are – the real Nairobians, warts and all! And celebrating our specialness! Send in your pictures, YouTube movies, and your words on why your ‘hood holds an important place in our unique capital city to help create our Nai Ni Who online wall. Get ready to party, and remember to keep logging in for more info!’ More Juliani news about mtaa challenge, read here
