New Media Bill Met With Outrage From Kenyans
When the media Bill was announced, it was met by silence from top media editors. Actually, only Boniface Mwangi had the nads to criticise it. And he did so with some satire. His statement was rather telling of his jaded soul. This is how he saw it, “After being invited to eat croissants at State House, the media got betrayed.”
And indeed they have because the new media law seeks to gag the media. I full heartedly support the thoughts of Niaje.com’s C.E.O David Mugo who said that bloggers and websites need a new council to protect them otherwise we too will be sacrificed by the old guard that controls the Media Council of Kenya.
Kenyans too are angry and they feel betrayed and have taken to social media to denounce the media bill and this is what many have been saying:
